If the s58's are what you want, buy them. If you go with the i10's, you will always be questioning if you may the right choice or not. I hit them both, but I needed the bit more forgiveness that the i10's provided me, but the s58's are a great club.

Thanks for the reinforsment gogolfing, this is what I have been telling myslef but its been hard because I have had some great deals cross my path for some i10s but I have turned them down for the exact reason you stated.

The new Ping wedges look amazing and I have tried them out and they imo are amazing performance wise as well. I will be picking up a set of these before anything else for next season.

Slight correcttion on swingweights on the i10: The 3-9 irons in the i10 line all start at D0. The PW and UW are D2. The AWT shaft does get lighter (descending from the 6 or 7 iron down to the 3, getting progressively lighter), but the difference is very slight (5 grams or so) and it does not affect swingweight. The total clubweight is marginally lighter, but the balance of that weight stays constant from 3i-9i.

I am sort of gonig through this right now. I want the 58s, but have hit the i10s and they feel pretty much the same too me. I keep telling myelf, they are cheaper, basically the same thing, etc. But this is golf were talking about! There is no reason to give in and not get what I want, right, right?

I guess you can strike the ball fairly well with that handicap and not noticing much difference between the i10 and S58 - If the S58 is what you want, go get it! I was looking for the right set of irons for 2 years, even borrowed a set of S59s for a month - i'm glad i waited for the S58 (superior club) - they are worth the extra few quid (if you can justify spending that much on golf clubs - for me, i play 3 times a week so its worth it). If you like i10 and hit the ball well, you'll love S58!

Could you tell us why you chose the S58s over the i10s? (BTW, my signature says I play the i10s but I haven't put the order in yet. I'm still considering the S58s).

I got them in August/September - The i10's weren't out then. If I was put in the position to choose between the 2 given i hadnt bought the S58's i'd probably have gone for the S58's.

Reasons - smaller clubhead (thinner top line and sole), i wanted a players iron that wasn't a muscle back/pure blade. A little bit of an ego/image thing - major winners Angel Cabrera and Lorena Ochoa use them (though most people who see Ping in my bag feel like throwing up). I'd have put more weight on the i10's if my ball striking ability/handicap weren't what they currently are. Say a bad 9-13 handicap, looking to get better. I can justify the S58's now - it's never a struggle to stike the ball, even from bad lies.

i10's are similiar in forgiveness of the i5's. Both are player's clubs. The G10's and G5's are game improvement clubs for the higher handicap.
I was torn between the i10's and the s58's and decided upon the s58's because I grew up playing blades.
The key is getting the correct swingweight and shaft regardless of the iron head you get. For my swing I installed the Project X 6.0 Flighted shafts and have my iron swingweight at D3.
Ping tends to sell to the masses and their typical swingweight depending upon the grip is C9-D0. I liked the zz65 stiff that comes with the Ping except I wanted a heavier shaft. The zz65 weighs around 109g where as the Project X shafts weigh around 127-130g.
The shafts are the engine. Get fitted to suit your swing speed and play ability.

Yeah I'm going to get the S58s although I just got an offer for some i10s that are practically brand new for $475, deep down I know its not what I want, and what I want is the S58s.

Yeah between the two, the S58s look better to me. I like my clubs to have ferrules although I dont mind the look if unferruled. Ive been looking at them for a few months now hitting in simulators and on the range. Other than looks they were the same to me but I had much more confidence with the 58s. Hey the mental game is a big part of the game righ!? I also prefer the finish to the s58 over the i10. Here are picks side by side. Ping I10 Ping S58 The topline on the S58 appeases me more. I look at the S58s and I think that I am gonig to crush the ball and have total control. I look at the i10s, and this is more so in the long irons, I just dont feel the confidence with the 10s, I feel like they look wimpy and like im going to break them and cant swing 100%. It may be the finish but it looks a little more squared. Quite different from my MP 33s LOL

wow i10 does look good...

I have tried all three sets, the TM i tried from my friend who has these they offer good forgiveness and are nice to hit. The Nike Slingshots i would advise you to buy from testing them out and from the opinion of people who use them. They are quite heavy headed and just dont compare to the TM or the Ping's. The Ping is very forgiving and i very nice club but if you are wanting to change to maybe a set of musclebacks when you get better then it mite be a goood idea to buy the TM because of the price and save your money for some nice titleists or mizunos

so you mean i should concentrate only looking at TM RAC OS or Ping G10? only diff in club itself is minimum but the diff in price is great right. thanks.

Buddy of mines father just got an entire set of G10's and he loves them...

    • Personally I have no issues with even the steroid-era figures such as Bonds, McGwire, and Sosa being inducted into the hall. My reasoning there is we already have nearly a half-dozen known steroid users in the hall, including those inducted after their steroid usage was already common knowledge. David Ortiz and Pedro Martinez (as well as Ivan Rodriguez, Adrian Beltre, and Todd Helton) both failed the same wave of anonymous drug tests that saw Sammy Sosa shunned by the nation, and he's in the hall. Piazza admitted to using Andro (the same thing McGwire was juicing with) and amphetamines. Greenies were commonplace in MLB clubhouses and used by countless stars, alongside cocaine, from at least the 60's all the way up until the early 2000's. There are at least a dozen other pros in the hall that have allegations from teammates who claim to have directly witnessed steroid usage. Even Nolan Ryan has stated that he thought steroid usage was a widespread problem in the sport as early as the mid to late 70's. I'm of the opinion that once that genie is out of the bottle, and it most certainly has been for decades now, it's a bit silly to pretend those already inducted are somehow morally superior for being not quite as astronomically and suspiciously good at baseball when using steroids. Hitters were using steroids, pitchers were using steroids (funny how we saw the number of complete games fall off a cliff at the same time that steroid enforcement was being ramped up), it's an even playing field as far as I'm concerned. To quote The Incredibles, "When everyone is super, no one will be".  As for Pete Rose it would appear that by all accounts he never bet as a player and only ever bet on his own team while managing. It's understandable to prohibit any involvement in the sport after it was discovered, but it's not something that gave him any advantage in reaching his level of achievement in the sport.  As for Joe Jackson, I personally don't think he should have been banned in the first place. He actively refused the bribe, tried to report the plot to the owner of the White Sox, and his alleged confession only occurred after the White Sox's team attorney got him roaring drunk immediately prior to the grand jury testimony. Every confessed conspirator also stated that he never attending any of their meetings or discussed plans with them. Not to mention the fact that if he WAS trying to fix the series he did an absolutely terrible job of it considering he was the best performing player on either team by far setting a World Series record that stood until 1964 and went error-free while gunning down at least one runner at home plate.
    • Day 7: 5/13/2025 Range day today. Had a really good session. I was able to pull a mirror over into my stall and make a slow-mo swing in the mirror and then try to duplicate the swing to hit a ball.  Felt really good today. Tomorrow will be league night.
