My vote for a top ten 'Jack' course has to be Bear Mountain on Vancouver Island. I have been fortunate to play several of his masterpieces over the years and the 'Bear' course has so many distinctive holes it is like reading 18 different chapters. If any of you out there have been blessed with a round there I would love to read your opinion and anyone travelling to the island your trip would not be complete without a round there. green fees are $100.00 (Can.) including cart.

What's up with Jack Nicklaus and naming courses "Bear"? There's a Bear's Best near me, and there's some more I think.

I do apologize. I was not referring to duplicating or making a "best of" to collect a paycheck. Maybe he wanted to provide for those not rich enough to play an original.Anyone can copy.Jack has proven it,which .........well,enough said.....bud

I've played 2.75 Nicklaus courses. From what I've played, I've got to believe the course you are talking about must be spectacular!

PGA West Nicklaus Tournament Course . Totally Awesome! You can play in the summer (105* heat, mind you) for ultra cheap. That heat really isn't that bad. Played it about 6 times in all now.

Bear's Best Las Vegas. Uh, Totally Awesome! This one doesn't come cheap though. But you must remember: you are in Las Vegas, the weather is spectacular most of the year (don't go in winter, burrrrr), the course is immaculate and the scenery is like nothing you've seen. Then wait until you see some of the homes built on this place. Unreal. Been there 3 times. Was too busy to take pictures, but did manage to get a few...

Angeles National , about 20 minutes away from me. Although this is the .75 course. It is made by Nicklaus Design, Jack's company. I'm sure he still has a lot of say in his creations, I'd imagine there are some eager designers put to work on Nicklaus Design courses. This place is stelar! Way high on my list. Demanding like it should be. It holds local US Open and Nissan Open qualifiers. Great practice facility (minus a bunker area). Played there a number of times now.

I happen to be fortunate enough to live on the 15 green of a jack signature course.

Glenmoor CC in canton, OH. Amazing course, generous fairways that are always in imaculate condition. Its the greens that get you, they consistently roll 12's and are very undulated. The three holes by my house are called 'the bear trap' as they wind around two ponds and woods. #13 is a straight 400 something yd par 4, with the landing area tapered by woods. #14 is a par 3 completely over water with a horizontal green and a deep bunker if you miss long, about 5 yards worth of landing area with the hardest pin position. #15 is a beautiful long par 5 with a pond that runs the length of the left side, two huge bunkers guard the elevated green which has a run off chipping area long, dead zone. The green slopes severely to the front, so if your short your either in the bunkers or roll off, if your long your down in death valley.

    • Day 242 4-19 correct hip/chest movement in backswing. Less hip turn more chest turn. Did a bit of wrist arch stuff as well.
    • Day 42 (19 Apr 26) - Spent a bit of time working on maxing torso rotation…hit a few pitches to help reinforce.
    • Thanks - that was a total surprise…

    • First round at Quail Ridge: 47 + 47 = 94 *Note: It was 25+ mph winds with gust in the 35+ mph. It was also around 58 degrees. I felt like I was out in Oregon. The greens were very firm.  Driver was decent. It didn't cause me an issues.  Irons were the biggest issue. Just low point control was lacking. Mostly on the chunky side. Also, my irons were routinely 20-30 yards shorter than normal. Even on holes with a cross wind, the ball was just dying. We played an extra 9 holes after the first 18, and the wind died down by then. I stepped into a 9 iron, and it came up 15 yards short. I have no clue what is going on. I should not be hitting 9 irons 140 yards when I am hitting my driver 300 to 310 yards.  Warmup didn't give me much confidence. I just kept shanking every other iron shot. I didn't shank an iron during the round. I just felt all out of sorts today. Coordinate felt off.  yea, I have no idea if I am purposely slowing down my swing to feel my downswing piece. Again, I hit a decent 9 iron and lost 15 yards of carry. I hope this is just an off day.
