Regular Flex, Senior Flex does it make a difference to the average player?

I spend a lot more time at work thinking about golf than I do playing or practicing.  So I come up with all these questions.

I am currently playing a Ping G30 SF Tec, Regular flex shaft.  My average drive (I only count good strikes) is around 220-230 & my club head speed is mid to high 80's.

Would I benefit from a Senior Flex, or does it really matter?

Depends on whether your transition is aggressive or smooth, whether you release the shaft early or late.

Aggressive and Late may translate to moving up a flex.

Smooth and early may mean moving down.

All shafts are different.

Look at launch, spin and dispersion.

I would imagine regular flex is fine

I do my own fitting the expensive but far more accurate way: I buy a club with senior flex that is identical to another club I have with regular flex and play several rounds with both and compare. The club I don't like I can sell or give to my son or a good friend.

This is the only kind of fitting that I really trust. I've had bad experience with simulators.

Take this with a grain of salt and full dose of YMMV:

I just went through a driver fitting and bought a new Ping G30 2 weeks ago.  I know my swing speed is pretty slow so I asked the guy about the possible benefits of a light/senior (or whatever they call them as to not offend guys in their mid-50s like me!) shaft option.  He stated that if my swing speed was low-70s or lower, he might have recommended it.  My 'all-out' swings during the fitting were mid-80s down to slower speeds of 75-77 mph at impact.

His opinion was that for me, the stock 'light/senior' shafts would probably put most balls out to the right and with possible fade/slice results.

I stuck with the standard flex shaft on the G30 and hit it pretty straight, much higher than my Taylormade and my bad swings result in bigger draws than I'd like to see.
