My current handicap index or average score is: Between 84 and 90

My typical ball flight is: mostly low to mid, sometimes high

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Fat shots, Duck hooks, Shanks

Videos: Currently I play about once or twice a week. My big miss is a duck hook and im not sure why. My grip i believe is neutral; I only see two knuckles on my left hand. I also have a habit of hitting it fat or catching the shank every now and then. I took the past year off for a injury and haven't been able to fully get my irons back since. I want to be able to consistently hit my irons and limit that low ball flight. I want to be able to swing at the ball confidently, knowing it will do what it want. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forum @Kshina92 Thanks for posting. It is hard to tell for the angle you filmed from, but it looks like the ball is well back in your stance. I would recommend looking at Key 2 in the thread below, weight forward at impact. Getting your weight forward more and moving the ball position forward a bit will get the launch higher. Post a face-on view when you can.

Check this out in the meantime for the duck hooks.

Thanks, I will try to get out there soon so I can post a face-on view. Should I almost feel as if my hands are dropping down parallel the target line and then from there opening my hips and allowing the hip rotation to finish the swing?

Feels are different for different players. Get yourself in the position that Erik is in and note what you had to feel to accomplish getting there.

Here are two from today. The drills seemed the help, the ball was higher up and was hitting small fades with the occasional snap hook if I got too quick with it. This is a 5 iron. Im not sure if that left wrist being cupped at address would cause any problems though?

Good threads for you to check out.

Head moves towards the target and the hips slide back a little on the backswing. Want it to look more like the right pic, will make it easier to keep your trail elbow/upper arm more in front of the shirt seam and with the forward and opening piece on the downswing.

Thank you so much for this. I just got up and tried this in my living room, it definitely makes it easier to rotate my hips. Would this help with the head shift too?

It should help, but you need to film it to see. For me, I focus on keeping centered during the back swing. The head then follows the torso.
