Hi guys! Completely new here and semi new to the sport. A little background; I had lessons as a kid and have always loved the sport so I got back into it this year. 3 months ago I got back into the sport and then got lessons. I was hitting my pitching wedge high and straight, my 5 iron 200+ etc. I felt great. Stopped doing lessons and just kept playing for the past month and realized I've grown into a strong grip so I went with it. After playing a few times I improved my game by 20 strokes(still 110-120 golfer though). I've been going to the range and now I cannot get any height on my pitching nor even hit my irons especially my 5. I pull everything and line drive when I hit it straight. I have no idea how within 1 month my game could have gotten so terrible. Could it be I'm too stiff and tense cause I've been practicing too much? Is it mental?

Perhaps your swing muscles, or your body in general is just tired from too much golf? Take a break from the game  and try again at a later date. You will most likely see a vast improvement. Just a guess on my part.

I'm not sure I'd classify a 110-120 golfer as great, but it's a start. If you're hitting a 5 iron 200+ yards, you're hitting it farther than most pros. Try cutting down on the swing. Golf is difficult, especially if you're swinging over 100 mph. You have to be able to hit the ball reasonably close to where you're aiming.

Welcome to the forum.  The best use of this forum is to post your swing in The Swing Thread.   There could be a lot of things going on with your swing, and understanding what they are should be your 1st step.

    • Hi everyone, I'm looking to improve my driving distance. I’ve been playing golf for a few years now, and while my accuracy has gotten better, I’m still struggling to get the distance I want off the tee. I play regularly with both men and women, so any advice that applies to both would be fantastic. For some context, I’ve tried adjusting my stance and swing, but I feel like I might be missing some key golf techniques or drills. Has anyone here successfully increased their driving distance? What specific tips or changes worked for you? Whether it's about grip, posture, swing mechanics, or even mental approach, I’m open to all suggestions! Looking forward to hearing your experiences and advice! Thanks!

    • I don't know… The TaylorMade Tiger Woods grinds were decent. I like narrow soles with a lot of bounce (lots of camber) and good heel/toe relief.
