Will be very interesting to see how his swing and well known unique WITB setup will fare on the professional tour. It's too bad he won't get to defend in next years' NCAAs - assuming the appeal will be denied, but who knows.

Reigning NCAA champion Bryson DeChambeau told GolfChannel.com on Tuesday night that he is leaving the SMU men's golf team and will focus on preparing for the Masters.

"To best prepare myself for the next six months of competition and future events, I felt it was appropriate to make this decision now to be fair to my coaches and team," he said.

I think this is a smart decision, one that will most likely lead to him turning pro after his "Tour de Majors" this season.  Its his only play here, after getting the taste of the tour he is not going to want to go back and play another year of college golf.  He has the talent and skills to make it and will hopefully make a splash on the tour!

I was wondering why he wouldn't turn pro right now, but the article says that he has to wait until after the Masters to turn pro to receive the invitations.

The path makes a ton of sense to me. He'll  probably spend the next 6 months working on his game, in preparation for his push to turn pro and earn his PGA Tour card. Hopefully it works out for him, because it's not an easy route.
