So winter has come here in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Golf courses are shutting down. Ive been looking for new clubs for a while and you may have seem some of my topics.
I had finally decided and the golf store has them on hold for me untill i go pick them up on sunday.
Its 2 months untill im 15, so i hope these clubs can last me awhile.

Driver- Nickent 3dx square 10.5 degrees loft
( I tried this driver and seems like a fairly straight shooter, and helps take some of my slice out) $220

Irons- Nickent 3dx steel irons cavity backs with 3 and 4 Nickent ironwood hybrid. ( I LOVE THE 5 IRON)
$450

Wedge- I have had this wedge for two years now a Cleavland 56 degree cg10 (Do i need to improve this?)

Woods- Don't have any ( Do i really need one?)

Putter- Sportcheck special dynatour dx arrow
(im looking for a new putter this was a $20 putter i got 3 years ago. Can you suggest anything? Im looking to pay around 150-200 for a new putter.)

Bag- Nickent stand loc bag bright orange ( really comfy)

So this is what i have right now, hopefully these will help my game. And let me break my last 18 hole score of 100.

The shop is going to custom fit me for free, as they are very customer orientated . I probaly won't have the shafts cut as im 5'8 so i can fit mens shafts. But they will check lie angle and grip size and things like that. Is this a good idea to have this done?

Thanks very much,
Thomas

Off topic: I need to improve my putting what can i do indoors to help improve this. Thanks

Congratulations on the new clubs. Looks like a great setup.

Woods- Don't have any ( Do i really need one?)

Not necessarily, but you've got a big distance gap that's easily filled and plenty of room in your bag. Why not at least a stronger lofted hybrid? You seem to like Nickent. Maybe look at the 3dx ironwood dc or utility dc. Prices for new ones are pretty good right now.

Wedge- I have had this wedge for two years now a Cleavland 56 degree cg10 (Do i need to improve this?)

Nah. Most people will tell you that's a great wedge. If it's in playable shape and you hit it well, keep it.

The putter is the most used club in your entire bag thoughout a round. Don't skimp out. Take WEEKS to find your perfect one. Don't be high-pressured into completing a sale.

The set i bought comes with the 3 and 4 hybrid ironwood. Is this good enough?

Sure it is, but you're giving up some potential length by not having a club in the loft/length gap between your driver and the 3 hybrid, which if I understand your clubs correctly is a 20 degree loft. A fairway wood/hybrid could fill that gap well. For instance, Nickent's 3dx ironwood dc 2+ is a 15.5 degree club, and their utility dc 3-wood is 15 degrees. (I don't mean to push Nickent; it's just an example.)

You certainly don't have to have a club in this loft range. If you like the length/carry you get out of the 3 hybrid and feel comfortable with that being your longest club after your driver, that's great. And if you're confident enough to hit your driver on every driving hole, that's also great. But if you have room in your bag, which depends mostly on how many wedges you carry, you might want a longer option from the fairway and a more accurate one off the tee. You may not use a club in the 14-16 degree range a whole lot, but it can be quite handy when you need it. It just depends on your style of play, the type of courses you typically play, and the size of your budget. I carry 3-wood and use it a fair amount, but I would love to be able to get by without it.

I would also second the remark about the putter.

While there's maybe a long and interesting discussion to be had about whether it's the most important club in your bag (I think it is), it certainly is the most used club. And it and has more to do with the difference between birdies and pars, pars and bogeys, bogeys and others than any other club.

Take your time and find one that fits you.

Absolutely, you want to be confident w/o any doubting thoughts in your head while putting.

i really like nickent, too.
i don't know if you have golf town in your area. i saw they were selling 3dx combo iron set (red back) for $349. there are other stores that sell 3dx hybrid iron set (black back) for $488 and you get the 3dx squre driver for free.

personally i like any mallet putter with long aim line. helps me aim where i want to putt.

    • I dont know if I really have a favorite, but there are two that have stuck in my mind for a very long time. #15 at Erie Golf course during the Finals of the EDGA Matchplay. Was up early and then lost a few holes in row so the match was close again. My opponent had a short putt for birdie. I hit past hole high, but 35 feet right. I drained the putt and looked over at my opponent who was in disbelief.   #8 at Whispering Woods during another year of the EDGA Matchplay. Was playing a very cocky opponent who made sure to mention on the first tee how many times he won the club championship at this course. I hammered this 30 footer that clanked off of the pin and dropped. My opponent was disgusted and that made me weirdly happy. I went on to win 5&3 or something like that, so that entire day has stayed in my memory.
    • Day 20: Did 30 minutes after getting home from work, before kid's baseball practice. This session was piecing out the new hip move in transition, doing 2-3 rehearsals from the top, and then hitting a ball from between P5/P6. Did another 45 minutes after baseball practice and dinner. Did 30 more minutes of what I did earlier, and then about 15 minutes of full swings trying to incorporate athletically.
    • Day 296: did a stack session.
