Retiring the woods

May not be the best solution for you but look for woods and driver that fit your swing. I searched high and low and couldn't find anything I could hit consistently. I did have an old 3w which was great, an old Cobra S3 Max, has a strong bias which helped with my fade and slice. Since I could hit that club well I figured I would try the driver, same result, I can hit it great. So I purchased an S3 Max 5 wood to match. Now these clubs are before the Bio Cell and the Amp Cell from Cobra (which by the way I tried and could hit them straight) and I purchased the Cobra S3Max drive and 5W new on Ebay for $89.00 each, not a bad deal.

Also, remember when hitting a hybrid or woods you need to sweep it, not hit like an iron. Swing slow, let the club do the work, not you.

Do not swing slow -- swing as fast as you reasonably can within yourself so you make near center impact.

I see your hc is index is high. Naturally, a lower lofted club with a long shaft tends to expose all of  your swing flaws. It could also be the clubs -- too heavy, old, designed for better players, etc. For newbies, typically a lighter fairway or driver designed to get the ball in the air easily will help you. Looking at golfers on the range, the mistakes I typically see are swings that are too long, too handsy or armsy lacking the body-arm connection, and then head moving too much,  the typical not enough weight forward at impact, and the back of the lead wrist facing upwards at impact. With those issues, nothing good will  occur.

Thanks for all the insights and feedback!  Part of my frustrations are that at the range I hit it so much better, and think I am getting there, then when it comes to the course it's back to square one.  I can't feel the difference between a good and bad shot at the moment too, but I can see the difference!

Right, you definitely shouldn't give up on hitting your driver, it's an important club.

Yeah, I should not have said swing slow, I really meant swing your normal swing but swing in tempo, sorry for the misleading statement.
