I'm trombettista_vecchio, a 12.8 index 69-year-old geriatric (my user name means old trumpet player) from New England. 

I was an eight for an awful long time but age and spinal stenosis seem to have taken care of that. 

My 2015 season was cut a little bit short when my best friend nearly relieved me of a finger while I was trying to force her to take a pill from the vet.  I'm an idiot and forgave her immediately.  Now I crush the pills and rub them into Genoa salami which she loves, and which is strong flavored enough to disguise the medicine. We've had a beautiful late autumn here so if the dog didn't completely have my number, I'd still be furious with her..

I'm a gearhead, but not a club ho.  I don't rush to replace what's working, but what I do buy, I keep. The perimeter of my man cave is in some places two deep with old golf bags dating back to 1959. Here's what we rocked this year:

We were originally going to play Quail Ridge but ended up moving some things around and are going to do the following when we go in May Day 1 Tobacco Road Day 2 Southern Pines and Pine Needles Day 3 Tot Hill Farm There are a couple good course vlog/matches on YouTube at Southern Pines, it looks awesome.

      I got two trips lined up this year.  First, Pinehurst next month. Qual Ridge, Mid Pins, Southern Pines 😁, Mid South, Talamore. I am looking forward to playing Southern Pines since it got redone.  Second, a trip to eastern Wisconsin in early August. Whistling Straights, Blackwolf Run, Erin Hills.

      You are probably doing the right thing in having more fairway woods or hybrids in your bag than irons. Just easier to maximize ball speed for you swing speed to get the proper gaps.  A driver is teed up, so you have more leeway there. The 7-wood is probably more optimized for carry for you. A slower swing speed needs higher launch and spin to keep the ball in the air. With the 3-wood, it probably launches too low with not enough spin to keep it in the air.  If you are not going to go get lessons, or do some sort of swing speed training, go get fitted for clubs. Clearly your mix-match of equipment is not optimized.

      32 putts are average for a single digit handicap golfer. Limiting three putting is the biggest task. Speed control is the most important aspect of putting. Probably the 2nd most important is aim.  The putter is going to rotate open a bit on the backstroke. It might stay square to the arc of the putting stroke, but that does mean the face opens up a bit on the backstroke when measured against where the face is oriented at address. Go get a putter lesson as well.
