Are 'The Voice' and "American Idol' destroying good singing?

I think the most impressive thing about this video was how quickly the other Adele impersonators recognized her voice. They've probably heard a few good ones, too.

I've been to a few concerts and few people sound like they do on their CDs. Adele and Celine Dion may be the only two, or the two best.

Nah Idol and Voice are mainstream music contests that just emphasize how gentrified modern music has become. There are serious issues in the music biz but those shows aren't part of the problem.

However I liked this guy.  And this instrumentation isn't the typical formula at all.  And his voice isn't the typical modern pop voice either.  He comes from the singer songwriter side of things (he is a singer songwriter).
