Lengthening graphite shafts

A friend of mine cut down his driver 2.5". I wanted to try it out but I'd need to lengthen it. How long  can you go with a graphite plug if you epoxy it in? I've heard 1" is the max but the plug is 3" long. Any shaft experts out there? Thanks

Got on Golfworks website and answered my own question. 2 to 2.5" max

That seems like a lot, especially if your swing speed is anywhere on the higher side of average. Did you at least try a few hits at the shorter length to see how it performs currently?

I would look at just installing a new shaft rather than adding a 2" plug.

Another tip from GolfWorks - don't lengthen a graphite shaft with a metal extender. The overlap creates a shear point that can damage the less dense graphite portion.
