Not understanding this can be the difference between a competitive match and getting trounced. 

 

I usually play from the white tees. I note from your above example, that the CH from the white tees at one of my courses would be the same (or nearly so) from the blues at your course. (slope 120 rating 70 with an index of 18.9)    That being said, I probably would enjoy the game more if I played forward given I simply do not have much distance any more.

One reason I do not, is from the forward tees, some of the most interesting holes (over hazards e.t.c.) would be not as interesting as that would normally take the hazard out of play.

If you have a GHIN number you can look up your course handicap at the course for a given set of tees.
