Callaway 2014 Xtreme clubs??

Can someone give me a heads up to what this model is? I do know it is not the Razr

Xtreme

. I think it might be a made for Costco, etc club. Which is fine for me, I just need an easy to hit 5 wood that might carry 190 yards for travel days. Layout of my own course usually warrants Driver, 3 wood, then a 23 degree hybrid. But on courses I travel to I often run into the 3wood is too much, 23* hybrid is not enough situation. Since this would be a part time club so I absolutely do not mind spending less $$$. Anyone have a clue what it might compare to in the Standard Callaway line? Maybe a model or two back in time with different cosmetics? Definitely not the Warbird sole... Any thoughts? Thanks.

Driver :T Edge CB-1 or Cally Mini Driver 14* or GBB 11*
Tour Edge CB2 15* 3 wood (Best Club Ever!)

Callaway XR 5Wood (New BCE!)

Hybrids: Nike SQ 23*  Tour Edge 28*

Irons: TMade RAC  7-PW   T Flight 56 SWedge
Putter: Odyssey 2 Ball Blade, SStroke flatside to hole

I have their model from 2 years prior, the Costco X-24 line which was a rebrand of the X-24 Hot. These clubs, like your X-treme, are good clubs. They're rebranded Razr X irons from 2012 with a bunch of woods and hybrids that have no fancy tech in them. But know a few things: they have basically no resale value, they're made with tremendous offset in the irons (which might be a good thing!), and they're made a bit cheaply, with various cosmetic effects done less cleanly than in a regular release. Edges aren't beveled, paint isn't as clean, etc. The shafts are very generic. That said, the woods are very forgiving. I hit that driver better than the Big Bertha that sold for more than the whole set cost. I think in retrospect it's good value but you can do a lot better for a bit more money. But it's a good set for a high handicap player who doesn't want to stress too much about what they're buying.

Thanks, that is pretty much what I expected. The "forgiveness" might be what I am looking for??? I was kind of surprised when I found them listed on the Callaway Pre-owned site. While not top shelf, Callaway at least stood behind them and acknowledged them as Callaway. Kind of the way I describe my golf game when playing with strangers... "Not good enough to embarrass them, not bad enough to embarrass myself". Makes it enjoyable to play when I have to play with strangers when on vacation. For the price I might give a 5 wood a chance. No Costco close to me, so I could say they are a European model?:-D Thanks.

I also bought my set from Callaway Preowned after having seen it in Costco (was 375 on Black Friday 2012 vs. 550 in store). It's just unsold units returned to Callaway. Costco was selling a rebranded X-Hot all last year and they're probably going to release this year's rebranded Callaway set within a month, following the schedule of the past few years. So that set might be gettable at a discount, though harder to identify because, if I could get on my soapbox, Callaway and Costco did a bit of shady business last year by not identifying in any way that set as a reissue. They were just labeled  "X-Hot," which is the first time they called it the same name as the model it was based on, versus some clearly changed name (X-24 Hot became X-24, Diablo Edge became RAZR Edge, RAZR became X-Treme, but X-Hot became X-Hot even though the clubs changed).

In any event, Callaway Preowned is great, I've done a lot of business with them. Good luck!

I think Dicks Sporting Goods may have gotten some of those Re-issued X-Hots as well. I remember an X-Series & X-Hot Black name plates. Dicks also seems to have a never ending supply of RBZ clubs that are configured a bit differently. Sales kid said they were from TM's Japan market... typical BS. I have noticed Callaway Pre-owned.com has a slight price difference between their online site and their Ebay store site. I'm still trying to determine if inventory is the same? Also looking to see if Free Shipping after $100 is the same for both sites.  Any clue whether they update inventory daily? Weekly? Thanks.

Yeah, the X-Series and N14 or whatever they call them are the same basic idea, just more clearly labeled for consumers.

Callaway Preowned's site, EBay store, and Amazon store have very little in the way of internal price consistency. I've seen price differences of over 30% before any sales even were taken into account. Amazon prices can shift daily or stay the same for months on end, but they're usually a few bucks at a time. Their main site will have sales all the time and the prices jump massively so you have to time it more.

Did not know Callaway also had an Amazon storefront as well. Gives me something to do as I wait for warmer weather. Normally I would say wait for the snow to melt. But not this year. I live just north of Saratoga and we 0.00 inches of snow on the ground! So far under 10 inches TOTAL. I will monitor the Callaway sites... I was considering a cheap 5 wood. Prices are good so maybe I will pop for a X2 Hot 5 wood to add to the 4Wood which is my first need. Thanks for the info it is helpful.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
