Such a crazy story. The NHL, as usual, should be embarrassed. Such a jackass league.

For those who don't know the back story, John Scott is a lunch pail enforcer who has bounced around the league. Definitely not All Star material. The thing is, the NHL open up All Star voting to the fans, and the fans voted for John Scott. Now the NHL is doing everything in its power to stop that from happening, including inexplicable trades and burying the guy in the minors. All to protect the "integrity" of the ASG, which is a clown show at best anyway.

Here's an article from John Scott on the whole ordeal.

I read the article, he seems like a great guy just trying to get by.  Does what ever he can and even pokes fun at himself.. If the NHL is trying to prevent him from playing in the allstar they shouldn't have opened up the voting right?

All-Star games in general have become a joke across all sports.

In the old days of professional baseball, the money associated with the All-Star game, the lack of player movement and very little national television made it a big event. It was our chance (as National League territory) to see the famous American League stars. Those days are well behind us now. The contact sports, football and hockey, are more problematic. None of these guys want to get hurt playing in what amounts to an exhibition game.

I do feel for Scott. He's in a tough position professionally to begin with since the days of true enforcers is pretty much over. Funny how it's something like this that pushes him to the A.
