To bad it's 2014 ;)

It does show a few things,

1. Primary driver of spin rate on wedge shots is the cover.

2. Urethane cover golf balls only spin on average 150-200 more rpm's off the driver.

3. All premium golf balls perform nearly same. High low on the driver spin is 350 rpms. High low on the wedge spine is 800 rpms. All you are doing is fine tuning when you chose a premium golf ball.

Agree. That's why most premium ball companies suggest you work from the green back to select a ball.

Yeah, it would be nice if they (or somebody) could update to the current balls.  DT Solo isn't made anymore, replaced by DT TruSoft.

More than that, I would like to see it expanded to include other brands as well: Snell, KickX, MG C4.

I agree.  Wish they had the latest, but it's still pretty useful.

Most premium balls work about the same for me as well.  I go quite a bit by the feel of the ball.

    • Day 5 - 2024-10-05 Hit some somewhat soft pitching wedges. The outside and inside, particularly the outside of the left thumb where my right hand goes on it, is still pretty sore. I don't think I'll do more damage, but I'm reluctant to do too much because I don't want to compensate or alter my motion.
    • Day 156 (05 Sep 24) - Played new to me course today, it’s near our beach place and have been wanting to play it for a couple of years now.  It’s a neat Par 70 that plays just over 6k from the tips, played the whites 5,500 +/-.  Tight fairways and severely undulating greens made for some great shot strategy.  Wound up with an even 80 that included two lost ball penalties.  Putter was solid - 28 total.  Wedge play kept the pars happening - 6 of the 9 pars were up and downs.  Not bad for the first time on a new course.
