I just have a quick question. Im looking to reduce my handicap very soon but in wondering, do the scorecard(s) I hand in for it have to be from a competiton or can it/they be from a round I played with my friends(not in a competition)

For the US, they don't have to be from a competition. You would need to check with the governing body in Ireland for the rules there.

You should check with your local club, they'll let you know for sure.  As I understand the CONGU system used in the UK and Ireland, you can turn in non-competition scores as "Supplementary Scores".  I looked this up here:

I have to admit, looking at that Handicap Manual makes the USGA Handicap Manual seem VERY user-friendly.
