Hi,

These spots have appeared on my TaylorMade Speedblades in the last couple of months..

Nothing I do can get rid of it?

Lol.. I don't mind it either but I purchased these on a whim when I had a BAD case of the shanks 6 months back but I am now back to my Mizuno JPX 825's and was looking at selling the SpeedBlades..

A clubsmith at Golf Galaxy agrees with this.

Also, I asked my brother, a retired soil survey specialist who golfs quite a bit. He had some additional comments. (He's increased his golfing in retirement).

• If the spots are mainly on your high usage irons - wedges, 8i - then the coating on the irons may be wearing through. This would especially be the case if you play in sandy turf, with the sand particles abrading the coating all the time.
• In Sydney - down under - April is in autumn. If you've been having increased moisture and didn't wipe down your irons after play, this could trigger discoloration.
• And, the greenskeepers might be involved. If your course put down some nitrogen-heavy fertilizer, the fertilizer + moisture --> nitric acid, which is corrosive to metals.

So much for the science lesson. Have a good autumn of golf.

I was thinking acid spots, like mentioned above fertilizer most likely

try some metal polish and a rag.  Brasso would probably work, but there may be better ones.

Thanks for the detailed response..

The spots are on all irons

I usually (try to remember) to clean after each shot but do clean my after clubs after every round

Greenkeeper?  maybe... It hasn't happened with my Mizunoo JPX 825's  but then again that probably has to do with the different finish on both clubs.. 

 

Anyway a bloke from the golf club is interested in buying them, I have given them to him to try out for 2 weeks before deciding if he wants to purchase them..

Thanks everyone for the help.. We are having a rather unusual Autumn (Fall) here in Sydney so golfing is good, but we do get to play year round here because the weather is so good...

Tried Brasso and Silvo hell even tried Toothpaste lol.... All to no avail lol..
