I have fallen in love reading about this driver. I'm going to test it out this weekend.  Has anyone had this driver? Hit it? Thoughts opinions on it? I've looked up reviews  and they're great.  for the most part I swing so much better with a light driver I currently use the taylormade 540 XD it's super light and I get about 280 giver or take 10 yards depending on the hole. However if I hit this driver well I'm wanting to be able to drive 300+ yards.  I tried the R1 driver and it's awful for me.

So you can hit your current club 290 but you think you need to spend hundreds of dollars to gain an extra 10 yds?

Why not? 10 Yards is 1 Club less on approach shots.

300 plus yards. I want a 320 carry. I wanna be able to play with the pros and compete. I practice a lot but hitting over 300 would make me feel more confident in going to q school.

1. A new driver definitely isn't going to turn your 280y drives into 320 carry.
2. You listed yourself as a 10HC so Q school would still be a million miles away at this point.

New toys are always fun though, good luck.

The quote didn't show up but, he's right, about both. A new driver may turn 200 to 280 but that could be many factors, incorrect shaft, launch angle, swing speed, even just comfort with a driver. Going from 280 to 320 would be a very special circumstance.

In terms of Q School, the winner of Q school usually plays very well on the web.com tour the next year. I'd be concerned that you didn't know a handicap and want to qualify for Q school. Remember, Q School is at PGA west which is a slope of 139+ So if you can consistently shoot under par there, or any Pete dye course for that matter(I know Pete Dye isn't the only designer), then yes maybe you'll do well. But also remember to add on the pressure of: Paying for the qualifying, it's not cheap, possibly gaining a tour card, etc. It's NOT easy, and don't expect it to be.

In order to even be competitive in Q school you have to regularly shoot under par on some pretty difficult courses. While being able to hit your driver a long way is helpful, it's not nearly as helpful as perhaps you think it is. All that said, by all means, go try it out. Maybe it will give you some extra yardage, and I would assume it's at least more forgiving than your current driver given the difference in technology that is part of the club.

1. how would you know? The current driver I have turned a 200 drive to 280 so why couldn't the vapor?

2. I need to adjust that. That was a random number thrown up as I didn't expect to use this site as often as I do. But I'm sure you know what it takes to win at Q school.

1. I'll have to call BS on that. Give me the worst fitting driver in the world and I'm still not losing 80 yards.

2. According to this post post you made you've been playing less than 3 years and only about once a week so Q school is a long way off no matter how talented you may be.

1. Nobody's selling you a story for gain so what would I get out of telling a story? I'm not babysitting and your not children. Well most of you aren't.

2. Creeper much? I even stated before I threw some random stuff in here when I made this account. I expected to use it once, but it became quite useful.

Just a heads up, if you're intending for your HC to be reflective of shooting 3 under, I'm pretty sure that would be written as a +3.

I don't use a handicap at my club. Some of the older guys do for means night but they usually just make me one of the captains.

Wirh that being said nobody's answered the question or commented if they've tried the driver out which is what this entire post was about.

Unfortunately, that is probably the only driver I did not try out when I was getting fitted for a driver this year. Is there no place that you can go and try it out? In the end, it doesn't really matter how it worked for any of us, it's only going to matter how it works for you. It's always best to go and try as many different clubs as you can when getting fitted that way you end up with whatever works out the best for you. I never imagined I'd end up with the driver I did, but after going through all the options it was the one I hit best by far so that's they one I bought. It's good to do research and look up information, but nothing is will give you as much good feedback as actually hitting the clubs and seeing the numbers it produces for you.

There is but at the moment I don't have the time to do the drive, I will but it'll be another month or so before I can even get the time to go get fitted. What driver did u end up with.

1. Didn't say you were lying, simply wrong. Perhaps the club was damaged and you didn't know it or the switch coincided with swing improvements, etc, etc.

2. Not sure what you mean here. I understand putting 10 in the HC spot as a place holder but are you also saying you lied about how long you have been playing in previous posts?

Srixon Z355, it's more of a mid handicapper driver.

Thank you finally an opinion on the driver.  What didn't you like about it?

I loved the look, nice and sleek and inspiring confidence, but I just wasn't getting much distance, and having trouble finding the see sweet spot. It felt a little too light, maybe?

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
