I think the biggest contribution, given you're game is tuned to the point where you are shooting in the low 70's already, is completely dependent on greens in regulation. I try to structure everything I do to end up on the green for a birdie putt. I know even if I have a 3 putt or two, this approach takes stress off my wedge play and gives me far more opportunities to score with my putter.

With that being said, I've had multiple rounds ending with 70, but have yet to break it. Looking back though, I have tendencies of throwing strokes away by missing short putts and not capitalizing on easy birdie chances. But each time I got close, I average around 12-16 GIR.

haven't read all the replys, but sticking to "one shot at a time" is likely the only way you'll do it. There is a million and one ways to do it, but it all comes back to one shot at a time & enjoying the hunt.
