Have you been through a fitting?

Have you been through a fitting?

Yes I have. With my swing speed at 109, the club fitter suggested an x-stiff rather than my current stiff shaft...

Also, with my ball flight being very high off the tee he also said to look for a shaft with a high kick point... Thanks

The Aldila NV Green shaft is awesome. It has Low ball flight like you said. The only down side is that it's kind of pricey. Good Luck Christmas Present?

Did the fitter not make any suggestions?

The reason I'm asking these questions, is if you went through a fitter, you woudn't have to post questions here, the suggestions/recommendations would have been made at the time of fitting. OR is it that you are trying to get a 2nd opinion?

Ya, he gave me suggestions, but the suggestions were for Callaway drivers that come with the stock shafts. If I dont go with a new driver, and keep my current one, I have a variety to choose form, not just Callaway stocks...

One thing that I have always found helpful was to visit shaft manufacturer's web sites and look up the shaft specs. Usually you can google the company and find it in short order.

One important thing to look at as well, generally, the heavier the graphite shaft, the stiffer it is. Look into shaft weight as well.

Example, the Aldila NV series mentioned in a earlier post is available in 55, 65, 75, and 85 gram versions I believe.

Some specific suggestions:
  • Graffaloy Pro Launch Red
  • Fujikura speeder series
  • Fujikura Tour Platform 26.3 or 27.3
  • Aldila VS Proto

This is not a complete solution, but hopefully it can get you started.

I second that suggestion of reading the manufacturer's specs though I have never had the need to use an XS shaft I cannot offer any recommendations. The ones mentioned above is a good start.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
