This community is one that I like because most here like to share their victories and defeats, their life changing events and their happiness or sadness!

I have been asked to relocate from the capital of KSA Riyadh to the eastern region city called Dammam/Khobar.  I accepted because I feel the standard of living will be better in Dammam, and more specifically it is next to the ocean.  My workin conditions aren't really going to change much except I will be working in a state of the art injectable medicine plant as it is about to start commercial production (more about what I do some other time).  I'm still negotiating a relocation expenses and compensation so I'm hoping to finalize all this asap.

I have already registered the kids in a school, and I found a great apartment (3 BR) next to a community play ground with a soccer field for the kids.  I will be moving in the next couple of weeks and I know it will be toughest for my wife who will be shouldering most of the load may God help her.

Now, for the most important part! Sigh... There are no golf courses there except one and it is in the Aramco compound and it is going to be hard to get on to play as it is designated for Aramco employees only.  I am not sure if they are allowed to bring guests or not, and this is really bumming me out..

There is another option which is to go to Bahrain which is the island country bordering Khobar (there is a bridge that takes 20 minutes to cross and another 20 to get through the boarder).  I haven't started looking but I'm pretty sure they have golf courses there, so maybe a month a visit to play might be in order, but that will be expensive.  I will see what I can do.

There is one consolation and that's the play ground area..  I might be able to chip and pitch when there are no kids there maybe?  Or maybe not I don't know.

I don't know what this will all mean, I reached my goal and I have been playing under 95 on pretty consistent basis so that's pretty good and that just playing once a week..  I'm going to have plenty of time to practice and play when I go visit my family in a month, but what do I do for the rest of the time I'm here??  I played what could be my last round of golf in Riyadh today and scored a 94, so at least I'll have that memory.

I'm still hopeful that the future holds something good for myself, my family and of course my golfing!

Congrats on the move, @Abu3baid! It sounds like it will be great for the kids.

Though if I'm going to be perfectly honest, I don't think I'd move anywhere that wasn't good for the entire family. And I do mean the entire family ;-)

Good luck with the change, man. I hope everything goes well for you and your family.
