My name is Sam and I've been playing golf on & off most of my life but began taking it more serious about 3-4 years ago.  It is a fascinating game that even the best in the world can't beat, which is what I love about it...there is always a challenge and always something to improve on.

I am very happy to be a part of the forum and look forward to learning tips & drills for practice and of course, how to improve my game, especially on the greens.

Welcome.  My brother just moved to north of Austin (Round Rock).  Any recommendations for nice courses in that area?

thank you!  There are some good courses around RR.  Has he played Teravista or Forest Creek?  There's also Star Ranch, Avery Ranch and Blackhawk.  Twin Creeks is close to RR (off 183-A).  Let me know if he's played those and I'll look up some others.

My brother is not really a golfer but he plans to get into it more now that he has retired.  Plus I will be visiting so we will need some places to play.  Thanks for the list of potential courses.

      Day 197 (15 Nov 24) - Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management.  Solid round of 83 (41/42) - 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.

      Have been on a mid to low 80’s roll of late - today was no different with an 83 (41 front / 42 back).   Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management, delivering 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.  Local course starting to get that winter feel - wet areas wetter, thin grass thinner, greens  trickier.
