That's what made my decision is that I rarely used the 52 as I could hit the pw to cover the gap. You could drop the 52 and even do a 1 degree adjustment to get to 50-55-60 or just keep it as is.

I ordered my 775's with 4-GW. I use the GW more than any club other than my putter. My set up is 45 PW, 50 GW and 58 SW. With my SW being such a high loft I have considered adding something around 54 or 55 degrees. I am only carrying 13 clubs right now and have the room. I am also thinking about adding a 2 hybrid. I would likely rotate them based on where I was playing.

I have 3 now. PW, 52 and 56. I'm debating the addition of a Lob wedge and dropping the 52. I have to work on my PW first. Currently, full swing PW is 135 yards and 3/4 swing is 125 yards. If I could figure out 115, than I'd drop the 52 and add a 60. I am debating though as the two best golfers I know, my dad (2 handicap) and a local pro, both do not use the lob and are great short game players with their sand wedges.

Personally I have a about a 12 yd gap between my pw and my 52 but only a 10 a gap between the gap and sw. I play most par 5 to 105 yd range, making sure not to get closer on my second shot. This leaves me between 105 and 118 usually right into the heart of both gp and sw. Also i usually just open up my sw for anything closer but I really try to not get closer than that while im playing.

As per my signature I carry 4 wedges.

PW: 47
TM: 52 and 56
Vokey: 58

I am in the midst of ordering new wedges from Callaway. I am going to get the Callaway X-tour wedges: 52, 56, and 60. I feel that I have too little difference between my current 58 and 56.

I toying with getting my wedges bent to have a standard number of degrees between each, but I think I will play with them and see if there is any point.

Currently messing around with a 4 wedge setup based off of a 46* PW.

I'm considering this as well. My PW is 45, my GW is 50 and then I have a big gap to my SW at 58. I am considering a 54 Vokey. Then again, I love my GW and hit it from 110 down to little pitch and chip shots. The 58 is great for getting out of bunkers, but tends to land soft and die on longer bunker shots. I don't want to get into a situation where I am trying to pick the ball clean to get it close. Can you say screaming skull missile? I have an open slot in my bag as I am no longer carrying my 2H. I may just pick up a 54 and a replacement for my 2H and base my choices on the course I play.

I technically have 5 wedges right now. My R7XD PW is 44 deg and the AW is 49. I also carry three not-set wedges (52, 56, 60). My home course is short, even from the tips (6300 yds).

Edit: I have a 50 degree on the way so I will be moving the 49 and 52 out of the bag.

In my bag:

I carry 4 wedges... PW (46°), 50°, 54° and 58°. I was thinking to buy a 2H but I prefered the 50°, and my short game has improved.

There are two sets of irons I'm thinking of getting when my handicap reaches the teens, and they both have a PW at 45 degrees. I don't want the seven degree gap between 45 and 52, so I'm going to switch out some wedges.

Should I go with 45-50-54-58? I already like my 58 degree wedge, so it would only be two new wedges.

I just picked up a 56* Ping Tour-W which puts me at 3 wedges. I have a 60* Ping Tour and a knock-off PW. I really needed the 56*. My PW was taking me about 90 yards and the 60* would only get me about 60. THis 56* is sweet, BTW.

I have the same wedges, and I have to tell you that my short game has improved a lot. I use:

PW: 140-130 yards. 50°: 120-110 yards. 54°: 100 yards. 58°: 80 yards. Regards.

I don't think I'll have quite the same distances (my current, 46 degree PW, gives me about 95-100 yards), but the short game is more important to me. I can generally get near enough the green in regulation, and then I'll be scoring based on the short game. Thanks! I'm glad to know someone has used this successfully.

This is the exact same set up I am considering as I already have the 45, 50 and 58.

I added a 52 two years ago when I had my previous irons. That set up was 46, 52, 58. When I got my 775's they came 45 & 50. Either way, the move to a Gap wedge was possibly the best change I have made in the last 5 years. The added versatility has been great for me.

    • I have two contenders here that stick out to me: In second place, a putt to win the hole playing the 16th hole at Burnham and Berrow. Playing foursomes and the green has a big bank at the front then a flat bit and then it goes up again to a back shelf. My partner had hit our second shot onto the back shelf. We were 2up at the time and he was being a little wobbly so we didn’t want to lose the hole. Our oppo were conceded a 4 and my partner told me to just lag it down there nicely. 20 year old me meant to do that and failed. I hit it a bit hard and it was definitely going to clear the tier and probably run off the front of the green, but it hit the hole right in the middle and went in. My partner was very happy we won the hole but quite upset at my ability to follow instructions.    Number 2 is my most memorable. I was about 16 playing in the junior knockout at my club. We get to the 10th hole - long par 4 and index 2. I didn’t hit a very good drive, hit my second up about 60 yards short and pitched on to maybe 25 feet. I started walking and I got this feeling. I knew I was going to hole it. There was no doubt at all. I’ve never felt like that any other time in my life but this one putt was a certainty. It was February and the greens had been recently hollow tined so they were in awful shape. I didn’t even line it up. I hit my putt and it bumped and bounced all over the place until it went in the middle of the hole. If I could bottle up that feeling and sell it I’d be up there with Bezos and musk. Mind blowing!
    • It's strange how ONE person can be THAT much different/better/whatever than anyone else.
    • I saw a YouTube review on a bunch of ball brands and the Maxfli Tour X did very well in comparison. I bought a sleeve and found them to be excellent in feel and distance. But I’m a lousy golfer so nobody probably cares about my opinion. 😃
    • There seems to be a lot of buzz around the new Maxfli Tour and TourS balls, especially with a handful of tour pros signing on to play them. My understanding is that the Tour is similar to the Titleist ProV1 and TourS is like the Titleist AVX. Has anyone played them? My main concern is that while I liked the feel and performance of the Maxfli balls of many years ago, I found the paint job on them was lousy. The finish looked a bit faded right out of the box, and after a few holes they had faded even more, and sometimes the paint was actually coming off. I'm hoping to find out if they are using a different factory or improved their paint process.  Opinions, please.
    • Day 298: range session during lunch. Hit balls for about 20 minutes, focusing on start line and curve. Much better than last night. Then did a stack putting session, which was solid (for me).
