A very similar thing happened to me in my club championship last year. I hooked a drive on a very short par 4 (only 295 yards) into the adjacent fairway, and somebody picked it up while they were playing that hole. Everyone in my group CLEARLY saw the ball land and come to rest in that fairway. The hole is situated in a way where i actually had a perfect angle to the hole even from the adjacent fairway.

After we didn't find the ball we figured the group playing the hole picked up the ball while they were playing through. I ended up playing two balls that hole - one where everyone in the group agreed my original shot came to rest, and i replayed another from the tee box. I asked the group if they picked up my ball when i went back to replay from the tee box and they all denied it. (Someone in that group lifted it)

I made a birdie on the dropped ball from the fairway and a double on the replay with the penalty. With the three i would have ended up winning gross by 3 strokes - with the penalty, i was in a three hole playoff. The committee there questioned everyone involved decided the group picked up my ball. They gave me the birdie score on the hole, which awarded me the club championship. The other players in my group had no issue with it, even the guy i would have ended up in the playoff with. I don't know if was the right call in the letter of the rule, but it felt like justice done.

    • I think you are right about the margin of error. I was watching the Yankees Vs Athletics the other night. They overturned multiple calls cause it was just outside the box, but then kept a few strikes that just touched the line of the box. the difference in the 2 pitches was maybe a 1/16 of an inch.

    • updated swing notes Setup - Same stuff. Good posture, weight in balls of feet, engage lower body more.  Backswing - Same stuff, hinge fully by P2 by using wrists. LBift left arm straight up to top of backswing. Control swing length, though it is way better. *Always a reminder 😊  Downswing - More of starting the downswing with lower body rotation. Getting the right hip rotating out towards the ball and around me, and the left hip goes back away from the ball and back around me. Straighten left leg as soon as possible. Still a bit of a struggle to do this.  Still the hand path and club going down behind me, feels like the right arm stays really wide and gets wider.  Though, I don't think I have poor hip flexor mobility. I stretch and move the crap out of them almost on a daily basis. It is part of my daily mobility routine for the past year.  This position is kind of wonky looking 🤣.  When I took my swing to that position and feel like I really sink my weight to the outside part of my left heel while extending the left hip more. I felt a big resistance from this area in the leg (sorry that is the right leg, blame Google). I was like, WTF! 🤣 Yea, more stretching may be needed. I wonder if I am avoiding that movement.
