I noticed that it only stores up to four custom locations per hole. If we were to map our own course, I wonder if this is in addition to the front, center, and back locations of the green.

I also noticed is has an internal LiION battery. This could be a problem if it loses capacity over the years and they don't have a good battery exchange program.

The size is nice and the unit looks like it can easily clip securely onto the golfers belt, maybe on the target side so that it's out of the way of the swing path.

I'm surprised that the price is less than the iGolf Caddie II. I wonder if the $149 price is promotional and will increase once it's out for the general market.

Yes, the 4 custom points are in addition to F, C, B

I've had mine for 3 months, and I use it every week. I've only had to charge it once so far. If the battery starts to lose life in about a year, I don't see it needing a charge in the middle of a round. By the time the battery becomes a problem, I would have gotten my money's worth x2.

The size is nice and the unit looks like it can easily clip securely onto the golfers belt, maybe on the target side so that it's out of the way of the swing path.

I usually clip mine on my right side (backswing side) and I've never had a problem with obstruction. Barely even notice it's there.

Any further info from other's who have this? For $150 it looks hard to pass up. Have a few friends with the SGS units, and you do get addicted to them. Any info would be great! Thanks

How do you add the custom points, do you download the maps and then pick points on the computer and program them in or can you essentially pick the point on course. For instance if you download the map and tee off then you have a creek in front of you on the next shot can you pick the creek as a custom point on the spot or did you have to program it in ahead of time?

My future brother-in-law, bought won at a local Golfsmith, when we were just there to get new golf shoes. It is pretty nifty, holds up to 10 courses at a time, and the program it comes with has like a playlist type setup so you can download courses, then remove or add other ones to fit your 10 course maximum.

I have one and absolutely love it. It's small and light as a pager, unobstructive, and accurate. I clip it on my bag cart when walking and on my belt when riding so I don't need to back to the cart and dig it out of a pocket.

It constantly updates your yardage to the pin w/o having to hit any buttons unlike other models, tho you do need to manually change holes with 1 click.

Shot marking ability is also a snap. Click it and walk off to your ball, it'll display both yardage from original position to ball as well as yardage to center of green on same display. Custom points are also just a couple clicks to add to the course. All bunkers and hazards are already programed in and you also get 4 custom points you can add youself. Just go to the custom point function, click a button and you have your distance for that creek, end of fairway, or tree etc. I made my own "course" for the range and marked off the target greens and flags since the yardages we're way off, not sure if the range was taking into the 30% distance from range balls vs normal balls.

Main screen show's yardage to center, so if you want to see back, front, bunkers, hazards, custom points you have to hit a button.

Normally I'll have at least 6 satellites working from, and have never had an issue when it's overcast or under moderate tree cover. Heavy tree cover might pose an issue, but if you're that far in the jungle you're probably not gonna need yardage to the pin anyways.

When wearing it I don't even feel it and have had no issues affecting my swing.

And one the of the best selling points is that with iGolf, you subscribe and get 100 course downloads which are yours to keep, meaning that you do not need to maintain your subscription afterwards unlike others that effectively make your GPS a paperwieght if you cancel your annual subscription.

Only holds 10 courses at a time tho, but updating them is fast and easy. Also you can charge it with a normal usb car charger or usb port in a PC/laptop. I use my blackberry car charger and it'll fully charge the battery in 30 min's. The battery itself lasts forever. I've used mine for 4 full 18 hole rounds and a couple of 9 holer's over a couple weeks with no recharging.

My only gripe is the holster. The Neo does pop out fairly easy when jarred. I used a rubberband to hold it on the holster until I put some velcro sticky pads on the Neo and Holster. They now have neoprene and leather holsters for it as well as cart holders that can be mounted on golf carts and pull/push carts.

IMHO, you can't beat the functionality for $149. Sure it doesn't have the fancy graphics and displays the higher end models do, but if you're looking for a GPS that is fast and easy to read, you can't beat the Neo.

I was reading the review on this last night and really liked it a lot. I think I might pick one up but hopefully tmevoli's question will be answered. The $149 + $30 subscription is pretty tempting.

It's 1 year from activation, or, 100 downloads.

If you dl 100 courses in 1 month then alas, no more dl's.
If you dl 1 course and wait 366 days then alas, no more dl's.

And honestly, 100 courses is a lot. I downloaded every course I'll play in my area, courses I'd prolly never play in my area, courses I may vacation near, courses near family and friends, and courses I have no hope in hell of playing (i.e. TPC Sawgrass, Harbor Town, Augusta, etc) and I still have like 40 courses left to dl.

Maybe you'll have more places and opportunities than I, no biggie, it's only another $30 for another 100

I would just like to take the time to acknowledge a product and a company that I think gets it.
The product the I GOLF NEO is a simple and very useful GPS unit. It simply the best $135 or so that I have spent. It works and is so simple and easy to use. On top of that when I needed customer service the level of service was absolutely the best. Simple and easy to understand directions regarding software and any changes I needed to make. Oh and response time was great!
If your thinking about a GPS and want something simple and efficient I GOLF NEO should be your choice.

Got it. Love it, although mine is a Bushnell Neo. I learned the hard way, that it doesn't give the correct yardage if you forget to advance the hole.

At first I thought you were a spambot posting an advertisement until I checked your posts and stats and all that. I haven't heard of this one until now but I'll check it out since the price is in my neighborhood.

EDIT: Wow I like the look of this thing. I'm not really advanced enough to need more than yardage to the green. It looks compact and easy to use. The main reason I wanted one was to get a good estimate of how far I hit certain clubs and this one sounds like it will do that. Membership to iGolf seems reasonable at 35 a year if I read that right. I think you might have sold me!

    • The MTB Prime and Prime X had issues with the cover being too soft and getting cut too easily. They said it was more prevalent in the Prime than the Prime X which I found odd because that was the exact opposite of my experience.
    • Day 120 - Played 18; much better than yesterday. Miss right now is off the heel of the club, so I need to sort that out.
    • Today we played Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH. Course was in great shape but my game didn't show up. I will say I pitched and chipped fairly well but almost everything else was very hit or miss. Cost myself a lot hitting an in play drive with pulling my approach shots maybe 85% of the time. Finally figured out I had been swaying most of the round. Only took me until 13 to figure it out. Used what felt like a much more centered turn and the ballstriking improved. 18 tomorrow using a 2 man scramble format. Just looking to contribute. Been a blast though.
    • Day 22: Hit balls with 7-iron using mevo+ to track dispersion. Was out for a long time after work; 86 balls but the first 50+ were 50% swings focusing on top of backswing feel and then just hitting the ball as a psychic reward. Finished with 20 balls close to full speed. Pretty happy with dispersion and also no horrendous misses. I’m chunking my priority piece out into two separate feels, first and more important is the position/balance at top of backswing which is what I was working on. Once I have that engrained I’ll move to transition part.
    • FWIW I never really had issues with the previous generation of Snells. But… I'm not sure I played them a ton, either.
