So I have an interesting question that struck me tonight while practicing in 30* weather...

Now, I don't take chunks out of the ground when I swing, but I will shave the top layer of dirt off of the ground on almost every swing I take...

I am wondering... can golfing in cold weather with a hard/frozen surface hurt your equipment?

It might be an odd question... but I have this constant itch to practice with my new clubs, and I just want to make sure said practice won't endanger my gear.

Any opinions?

Sure it can. Anything that puts more stress on the shaft-hosel connection can cause problems. Hitting off mats is harder on clubs than hitting off grass for the same reason.

Another cold weather factor is that the epoxy used to attach the heads to shafts is more brittle when it's cold. Really cold weather and hard impacts can cause epoxy joint failures more easily than playing in the middle of summer.

Thank you very much for that information...

Glad I heard this before I did anything horrible to my clubs

Looks like it's back to Parmasters for the winter...
