Advice on finding a good teacher

After playing about 8 times over the previous 5 years my swing has gone from mediocre to worse. This year I was able to get in 8 rounds and hope to play regularly next season but I am tired of playing poorly and need to find a quality teacher to fix my swing. I'm in the western Detroit suburbs if anyone has a recommendation. If not, how would you go about finding a good teacher? There are so many teachers on the web that it's confusing.

Sure, but… you could buy a copy of LSW and read the chapter.

The short version:

• Make a list of instructors nearby.
• Ask to observe a few lessons of each.
• Ask them some questions about what the process is typically like.
• Find out what kind of technology they use - you just want it to be compatible. Maybe you don't want to be in a K-Vest for every lesson, maybe you do (as an example).
• Commit to a bunch of lessons, like 5-10, and get a good rate.
