During practice swings where my swings i noticed that the club hits closer to my body than at address. But when i address it closer, the butt end of the club will be almost poking me in the leg.

When i set up at address, i let my arms hang freely and grab the club there and where ever the club head is that's where my ball should be.

During impact, i will always hit it at the toe and it will push right almost everytime. I can step closer to the ball but my arms will not hang freely anymore but more of an inward angle toward my legs. I tested this out with practice swings, and I hit the same impact area everytime,

Something wrong with my set up? Any insights?

I wouldn't place too much importance on that, it's your practice and not your "real" swing.

If the butt end is almost poking you, you're too close. Generally want the butt of the club to be about a fist and a thumb's distance away. The arms should be hanging slightly away from you.

That's more of a swing issue than a set-up issue.

    • Worst thing on Sunday was that NBC and Peacock wouldn't let me FF through the commercials on my DVR recording. Very boring when a guy has a huge lead on the final round and everyone else is playing for 2nd place. At least it was USA 1-2-3 in the end.
    • First day of a trip to Bandon Dunes. We played Sheep Ranch today. A Coore/Crenshaw designed course. A par 34 on the front and 38 on the back. With 8 holes with either a green, tee box, or the hole runs along the edge of the bluffs at the pacific. It has amazing vistas. With wide fairways and intermixed gorse bushes. The defense of the course are its large, undulated greens and the daily winds from the north. Many times you need to take 3-4 clubs more, if you even barely cross the wind, your ball can be taken offline or come up half to a full club short. A fantastic layout.    here are some photos.
    • At Sheep’s Ranch, Bandon Dunes. Shot an 84. That wind was nasty going from like hole 7 forward. It was like a 3-4 club wind if in the face. Greens are tricky with the natural grass.
    • Yes. The full swing is not that different, and speed is important with all of them. You don't see Tour players hitting their driver 310 and then hitting their 7I 160. Of course, but they're nothing like those for the full swing.
    • How about with the high numbered irons such as the 9 iron? Is the swing the same with that? If that's the case then I stand corrected.  OK, although there is physics involved in the putt too.
