I still remember watching what became the Senior Tour, the Senior Team event back in like 1979 or 80. Tommy Bolt & Roberto DeVicenzo versus....arrgh...trying to remember, maybe Art Wall? It was a sudden death playoff & these guys were pouring in birdie putts like crazy. And I remember thinking "DAMN! These old dudes can still play!" And from that came the explosion of Senior Tour events. 

Roberto was a widely loved guy who will, sadly, be forever known for "What a stupid I am" after the scorecard mistake that cost him a chance to win the 1968 Masters.
