Hi All,

I recently had a pitching lesson where my instructor advised me to use the following technique for the 30-90 yard shots.

I've always used my iron swing routine - albeit with a wedge and a  shorter swing depending on the distance I need to carry. I've adopted this new technique recently and I am getting a much better contact but I was interested in seeing how popular this technique was or if others used a different one?

Thanks

90 yards is a long way for a pitch. It can work with lower lofted clubs, but you need a lot of energy to get a sand wedge to go that far.

Most of us use the following method for pitches. For me, the farthest I would do this is 40 to 50 depending on the lie and what was in front of the green.

And for longer shots, partial wedge shots work great too.

@boogielicious, you beat me to it!

I agree with @boogielicious, that 100yds is a long pitch and that a flighted wedge may serve you better in those scenarios

Those are the two topics I'd read.

I've hit pitches, of course, from 50-70 yards… I agree, though, that from 80+ you're pushing it. ;-)
