Currently I've been working on Monte's no turn cast drill to reduce my overswing.

Welcome to the site @gwland88.

I'll give my assessment but keep in mind, I'm at the same level as you are so take it for what it's worth.

The only thing that I can see that might cause some fat shots is some lateral head movement. It's not very much, but your head moves back a bit at the top and then you have to bring it back forward again at impact. Too much head movement can cause poor contact.

As far as weight forward, I'm not knowledgable enough to say. You're getting your hips forward but your weight looks like it might be hanging back. (Please wait for a more experienced opinion before making any changes.)

The positives I see are that you're getting good shaft lean and inline position with your shoulder, arm and club. You also make a good hip turn on your backswing.

I think the swing is basically pretty good but could use some tweaks. Hopefully, someone who knows a bit more can offer some help. Good luck.

Thanks for the thoughts.  The head movement is something that I have been concerned about for a while.  Do you have any recommendations for drills to steady it a little?

I'm terrible at drills and my head probably moves more than yours, but I like this drill because I can perform it while swinging at a ball.

There's another drill I've seen that involves an inside doorway, but I can't find it. Hopefully someone can find the link. If memory serves, you get into your address position with your head next to the doorway and make your backswing (no club) with the idea of maintaining contact with the doorway (I'm probably not describing it properly).

I want to emphasize that I don't think your head moves that much and the idea isn't to keep it perfectly still. But too much lateral movement can sometimes be the cause of poor contact - especially when you seem to be doing so many other things pretty well.

Good luck!

Do you have a DTL video?

From the FO view, the ball is a little too far back and you're not turning your shoulders enough. Most tour pros are turned 90° by A3, you never turn that far at all and instead you lift your arms and move off the ball to feel "loaded".

I tend to keep the ball a little bit further back in an attempt to combat the fat shots.  Thanks for the observation on my shoulder turn.  Can you elaborate on what you mean by lifting my arms and moving off the ball to feel loaded?
