I have been insanely bored since the cold weather has set in. I have been entertaining myself watching the golf channel and playing "horse" against myself bouncing a plastic ball off of different things in my apartment with a wedge.

Anyway, keepy uppy...

What is your best number of bounces with the old wedge?

I am not terribly good at it but I can get a few over 25 bounces with an old 60 degree vokey.

What can you guys do?

You live in Texas and it's too cold? what could it be, 50's? I live near Chicago and I played last weekend, it was 32 degrees, but no snow. Dressed warm and had a great time. Get out there, man, you live in Texas, I'd be golfin year round!

HA! I was expecting to hear that from somebody. To my credit it was actually in the 30's today.

I am a cold weather weenie, but I think 101 degrees is perfect walking weather. Go figure.

on the keepy uppies i can go till the cows come home its all about hand-eye co-ordination I've started trying tricks and knocking the ball onto my feet and kick it up with them also try finishing with knocking the ball in the air and hitting it in mid air its good fun and improves hand eye so it can be usefull

The more I practise the luckier I get!

I can keep a ball up for ages until either the phone rings or someone distracts me!

Its more about the tricks that you can do! I can flick it between my legs, flick in onto my neck! THats what impresses people!
Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose.

I can go forever and I can go through the legs, behind the back, juggle it with my knees and feet, and I can pass two balls back and forth with my friend who is also very good at it.

I max out at one vertical bounce.

The second one will end up anywhere.

as a drummer and leadoff batter in baseball, people think i have great hand eye coordination. but, alas, i can't keep that dang ball bouncing for more than 5 times. i must practice away from breakables at all times!! weirdly, i can toss a ball in the air and actually send it out there 100 or so yards with an iron. strange....

I think you meant, "He's a real scrapper, great contact hitter, always puts the ball in play, would run through a brick wall for you."

I am not sure what to make of these posts. The wind has left my sail.

HA!

I thought I was doing good with 25 bounces, only to realize everyone else apparently can put it through their freaking legs and bounce it off of things.

Showoffs...

Texas... really.... Texas and your bored. The ground here in the Midwest is frozen solid. Try hitting out of a frozen bunker... I can't wait to move south. In NC I will golf all year and love it. What it will be like to have no offseason, no winter, no consecutive weeks without play. It's in the single digits here right now (not talking handicap).

I'm going to go bounce some balls with my 60*... I can't do tricks yet, so I need some practice.

    • Day 6: lighter session today after a long day. Just some mirror work and slow swings to try to get my feels down.
    • @Philip Belgium,  If I haven't already, Welcome to TST.  Your injury sounds serious and I hope you fully recover.   Thanks for sharing your story.  ..... each day get 1-2% better.   (A ray of sunshine and a positive outlook)
    • Day 91 (1  Aug 25) - Pre-tournament practice round today…had some great up and downs for par saves.  Rain came in this evening so it will be a totally different playing course tomorrow.
    • Jesus, when he keeps saying scissoring moment, ugh that is a horrible sounding phrase. Just makes me cringe. It doesn't help my mind went to Mr. Garrison from South Park. 🤣 If you know you know.  I think for the most part, golf shaft companies have gotten this figured out. They ask questions like, what tempo do you swing at. The whole scissor terminology sounds like they want to stand out a bit.  Yea, golfers load the golf shaft differently, and different bend profiles can help out. I do think swing speed matters as well. You probably want a golf shaft with lower torque if you swing faster.
    • Played 9 holes, shot a 39.  Kind of got around. Everything between the trees, so in play. Short game was rusty. Got to get back on that. Greens were stupidly slow because they got a lot of rain yesterday and probably couldn't cut them down. Usually in the summer they are firm and pretty fast for how sloped they are. Got to work on face to path a bit.
