Its winter in North and the only thing I can do is some indoor putting. I've got a 10' mat with the return hole thats about 3' wide. Its good for maintaining a smooth stroke but does anyone have any good indoor putting practice regimes to keep it interesting. Basically I can make 25 putts in a row with mat I Have now so I need something a bit more challengeing.

Wow, a 3' wide hole? Man, I'd have much lower scores if they had those at my course

I've been putting my shoes a few inches apart (they're not on my feet while I'm doing this) and trying to hit between them from a distance. The issue is hitting the ball straight and with a controlled stroke, since I can't really do speed control on my carpet. In a few weeks, I'll find out if this horribly messed me up.

yep - good idea shindig. They have an indoor green at the National Acadamy of the Golfing Union of Ireland HQ - with a tiny hole. Practice on that from 10 feet and it'll tighten up your putting. When you go out on the course you're aiming for a bigger target.

try improving you instinct - practice blindfolded

work on balance - pull right foot behind left on its toe

putt with your wedge - and ask yourself what is going through your mind when you are making your stroke. come back to me with an answer - it's quite interesting!
