There could be a decent chance that the Bridgestone Inv. is not at Firestone after 2018. The Bridgestone sponsorship contract runs through 2018. There has been no extension to the contract yet. The PGA Tour wants to shuffle around the schedule such that the Fed-Ex Cup would end in August or by Labor Day. This scheduling change could impact the typical week the Bridgestone Inv. tournament happens.

That would be a shame.

Before ever trying to play golf, I lived up that way and remember it being a pretty big deal to the community.

It is a pretty popular event in the area. I always remember it drawing a good crowd for a non-major event. I have fond memories of going to the event every year when I was a teenager. My dad and I would walk the course. I remember the year it had to be played on the North Course.

It would be a shame for Firestone to lose the tournament.

It always seemed to be a very popular tournament for the players as well.

That would be a bummer. Firestone is usually a fun event. Definitely one of the better courses the PGA Tour visits.

As all WGCs tend to be, yeah… free points, free money… no cut. Of course it's popular with the players, which makes it popular with the fans to come out and see the top 50 or so.

I won't miss having it at that course, if that's all that changes. I imagine they'll still keep a WGC somewhere in its place. The course is in great shape, but… so boring.
