Anyone have any information on these shafts?  They are stock on Srixon Z565 irons and stiff flex sits right at 100.  Looks like they promote a higher ballflight without being overly light weight which may work well for me, but I can't find too much information.  I'm going to try to hit them, but I'm hoping to get some thoughts.  Thanks!

Here are specs from the Srixon Z565 product page:

N.S. PRO 980GH

N.S PRO 980GH DST SHAFT (delivers D2 swingweight)

FLEX KICK PT. WEIGHT TORQUE
S MID 103g 2.4°
R MID 98g 2.4°

Z65 Iron Grip

GOLF PRIDE TOUR VELVET 360 (52g) GRIP

The NS Pro line features lightweight steel shafts for a wide range of golfers. Shafts tend to be mid-high launch (except for HL variants which are high launch).

The NS Pro 8950GH R.flex that I play in my irons are a higher launching, lower spinning shaft. The stopping power comes in part from the steep descent angle. But, the lower spin means it flies well in wind. (This shaft is out of production.)

It appears the 980GH DST is a proprietary shaft made for the Srixon iron lines. It does not appear in the Nippon product pages. From its characteristics, it is similar to the NS Pro 950GH (980GH is about 5 grams heavier and has slightly more torque).

Your homework: Check out the NS Pro Shaft Map and NS Pro 950GH pages.

Thanks for the response, I had reviewed Nippon's shaft chart to get a feel for where it may be, but I hadn't looked all that much at the NS Pro 950 profile.  What does additional torque do to shaft performance?

A shaft with higher torque will twist more during the swing than a low-torque shaft. This can influence how quickly the clubface closes on the downswing.

Torque also affects the feel of a club. Given two shafts of equal flex and weight, the one with lower torque may feel boardy, while the higher torque shaft may feel smoother.

MyGolfSpy did some tests comparing shafts on torque.

Remember, a good shaft fitter takes into account several factors, including shaft flex, weight, tip stiffness and torque.

Torque tends to be more critical in longer driver and wood shafts than in iron shafts.
