Day 196 (14 Nov 24) - Another get some work in before the rain (started around noon), so I kept it simple.  Worked with the 50 - open face, square face, ball in middle, front, back - coupled with staying in the pre-shot process. Just to prove the process works - did a quick step in and swing - much poorer shot results.  Really enjoyed those little 10-15 yard chip and rolls that finish nicely in the circle of friendship….

Day 197 (15 Nov 24) - Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management.  Solid round of 83 (41/42) - 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.

Day 46 - 2024-11-15

Light day. Lots of catch-up work. Checked the grip to make sure I wasn't compensating there, and did a little backswing work.

Day 47 - 2024-11-16

Light backswing work with about 3 or 4 rehearsals for every ball hit. Only about ten minutes while waiting for a potential member to show up (he was 25 minutes late). 😛

Day 198 (16 Nov 24) - A little backyard pitching fun with the grandson with wedges, foam balls today.  Love working with him on short game drills.  Priceless is the word.

Day 306 - More of the same focus, grip and backswing. Used the Divot Board to see how group contact was, and as expected, half the time I wasn't even making contact with the board.

Day 199 (17 Nov 24) - Hit a few wedge shots in the back yard this afternoon - focused on NOT-decelerating into impact along with the normal pre-shot process.  Got much check on the balls when they landed.

A little work before Junior Elite. Left thumb and the compensating left wrist are better; still not great.

Day 200 (18 Nov 24) - Broke out the MacGregor blades to do some “vintage” club pitches and chips.  Focus was on alignment and where I am looking in relation to the ball…have been working on finding a focal point about 3-6 inches ahead of the ball (toward the target) and not staring at the ball.  Getting very predictable strikes.  Overall it was a fun drill session and will serve as a warmup to tomorrow’s planned front 9 walk with these irons and persimmon woods and of course a “new” putter - a Acushnet Bullseye…

Light day of HackMotion work in the basement with my putting. Suffice to say my feels very closely align with what is measured.

Day 124: went to the range at lunch. Worked on driver and getting feels for a shorter backswing. It feels like I’m taking a half swing, but it looks pretty decent on camera.

      Yep, and this is why the game improvement irons have very wide soles with bounce. It helps when you hit the ball a bit fat. You can get away with it as the club won’t immediately dig into the ground. It glides more.

      Think about hitting a high shot off hardpan. If the clubface is open and you have lots of bounce in the heel, the leading edge is well off the ground. If you have a grind that has heel relief, then that leading edge sits much more snug to the ground. That gives you more margin for error.  The other thing is that while you might plan not to interact with the ground before the ball (you might also plan to do this), none of us is perfect in our execution and so a little bit of help here and there will make you better. I'm sure Rory didn't mean to blow his pitch across the 17th green yesterday, but he did. If someone as good as him can hit less than perfect shots, then everyone here needs whatever help they can get.
