Of all the shots that I saw at this year's tourney, the one that made me shake my head was Tiger's 3I that fell about 15 yards short of the green. It was a par 3 and no one had birdied it. Stewart Cink had just smoked his 3I to about 10 feet or so. A great shot. Here comes Tiger, a 3I, too, and the winds just kills his shot. Tiger starts laughing, that "What can you do about it" look on his face.

It just reinforces the mantra that golf is a game of recovery. Like a pitcher, who, once he releases the ball, the results are completely out of his control, a golfer, once he strikes the ball, has little control. Anything can happen.

I don't know if Jack is behind this apparent drive to keep his "legacy" alive. Last year, there were commercials seemingly blatantly taking jabs at Tiger's quest (e.g. "remember the record is still 18" or something like that). Now that Tiger seems poised to take that record down asap, I see a commercial extolling the # of Jack's second-place finishes, with the tagline, "he was just one or two shots away from winning THIRTY-NINE!"). F them. Tiger's routinely winning a major per year (or more) and 8+ tournaments. He will obliterate every one of Jack's marks and leave this argument moot.

Nice catch. I noticed as well. . although I am quite sure that Tiger wants it that way. . . he feeds off that stuff like the Patriots

It will be interesting in the end to compare wins, majors, and top tens, or whatever. There will be NO commercials about Jack's 2nd places then. NONE.

I'm glad someone else caught it. I was looking at Jack's wiki. Notice how many times he missed the cut at a major during the middle/prime of his career. Tiger? We all nearly passed out when he missed his FIRST cut. Tiger brings it EVERY time. Can anyone remember the last time he was not a major factor in a tournament? Any tournament? I bet right now, if you lined up the mean/std dev placing - giving some higher weight to majors and placing you at (field+1) for missed cuts, Tiger is BLOWING Jack away.

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

This is now an official duplicate topic. Thanks.

I can't get enough of that Tiger slurping.

Best, Mike Elzey
