I am new to golf and one of the things I am trying to work on is my tempo. I was wondering if anyone out there uses (or used) a metronome to help practice tempo? If so, do you use a regular metronome or one specifically marketed to golfers? Which one? Did it help regulate your tempo? Thanks for the help

just get a musicians metranome-use it for putting, like tom Coyne in the book Paper Tiger-i have 4 or 5 (i play drums and guitar a lot), and you can get just a cheapy piano metranome, find a tempo-not sure if i would use it for a full shot

I don't know about metronomes, but I know of several examples of music that have helped with tempo.

Sam Snead credits his fluidity to the waltz and he would hum it while playing. The one, two (backswing) three (downswing) has also been taught by others. A Pro that I have played with would sing while he played whenever he was feeling out of sync. The only problem was that he would put a song in my head too. Music can be a great tool for tempo.

I used a metronom a couple of times to practice with. Just took the old one i had from piano lessons, so you dont really need anything fancy if you gonna try it. And you better make sure, you are alone on the range/putting green or whereever you want to use it, since it is an annoyance to other people for sure.

I cant really say if it helped me getting my tempo better. Back then my whole swing was why to quick, so i tried to slow it down with the metronom but after a while i just got rid of it since my swing tempo got more balanced. I would guess it was part of the improvement, but the "change in mind" - the realisation, that a golf ball still flies his distance without much effort and smothness in the swing was much more important for me.
