Decent course for the price.

Thanks for the head's up. I would say everyone has an opinion on each course. I'll come back with a trip report when it's all said and done.

I've been to MB quite a few times, and I am now struggling to find decent courses I have not yet played. I am playing King's North for a second time, based on the Condition and Service. The layout is interesting too, can be a little gimicky, I am looking to play it in the AM and replaying the South or West course for the 1st time. I picked the courses really based on conditioning an price mixture. As long as the course is in good shape, and the service is ok, I won't be disappointed. It does take a few other points to keep me coming back though.

MB Nation West course is better than that South. I used to play those two courses all of the time for team practice. Back then they were in okay shape, but I guess they've really improved the conditions so it's more worth playing now.

I will be playing this when I go down this year. Looking forward to it.

I never got up there to play those courses, outside of playing Carolina National once. But a buddy of mine plays up there all of the time and raves about those courses. We've got pretty much the same taste in golf courses.

Surprised nobody has talked about playing World Tour. I hope on playing there this September. 3JACK

What might be better for you, might be worse for me, or vice versa.

Hello,

If you have a max/min green fee?

As a local, I put it this way -- your local dirt/goat track course that you think is awesome at its best is our entry level course at its worst. Don't mean to be harsh. Google a bit...

Do tell. Tis the finer points that make the finer golfer, eh?

As long as answering your question does not concede that I am a fine golfer, here goes........

Why I would return to: King's North. Guy in pro shop let us go play #6 "the gambler" again Starter created a great conversation Course was in top condition Bunkers were well raked, attention to detail was evident Saw the cart girl often Restaurant was great Guest Services staff were attentive, and anticipated our needs Course that I liked, that I won't return to: Waterway Hills Excellent service, from trunk to tee Saw the cart girl often Course was in great shape I like Waterway Hills, and I can't say anything too negative about it. However there are few courses that I would NEVER return to. Waterway Hills is not in THAT category. It's just that there is so many darn other courses competing. Once we have completed a trip there are three vague categories that our group rates courses. 1. Definitely will Play again 2. Great course, won't play again 3. Will never play again Of course Category #2 will be irrelevant as the day comes where we've played all the courses in MB.

That's funny, my friends and I do the same thing. I had the same reaction to Waterway Hills: it's fine and there's no reason to play it again. Tough to compete with Barefoot and the National courses when you're basically a straight, flat, fairly narrow public track.

There are many fine courses over the border in North Carolina also such as Carolina National--Crow Creek-Rivers Edge will kick most golfers ass.Down South you can't beat Heritage the back nine may be the hardest nine holes in all of Myrtle.Long bay is another of my favorites allways a challenge. And as was said earlier any of the Cats are good I love Tigers Eye.I have not played Leopard Chase but have heard good things about it.

So, weekend is over and I played a bit of golf but unfortunately I wasn't able to go to Myrtle Beach for golfing...

I played Northwoods in Columbia which was really nice and Santee National which was in a average to bad condition. It seemed that they had a lot of rain during the days.

Thank you anyway for all your comments and answers.
Maybe it will help me the next time I am in South Carolina!

    • Day 5: did a stack session. Did some slow swings between sets, working on hands down.
    • So, I might have to get out of the C-Taper golf shaft. I have an older Mizuno with a KBS Tour shaft in. I was messing around with closing my eyes and feeling where the weight of the club is being felt at. The C-Taper was all in my fingers. I didn't feel much of anything of the club head or shaft of the club. It felt super heavy in my hands. The KBS Tour I could feel a weight further away from my hands, out in space.  The Mizuno weights 2 grams more, but is about 2-3 swing weights lighter than my current irons.  So, yea. I am thinking I might sense the club better with maybe a less stout golf shaft and maybe a lighter swing weight. Probably more to do with the golf shaft. I am thinking the feeling of the weight out in space is more of the shaft loading more easily.
    • Day 25 (2 Apr 26) - Worked on green side chips at the course before helping with the school golf tournament today.  Worked on low flighted spinners to get solid hop and stops.
    • Day 227 4-2 Chest and hip turn with flow drill. Trying to get a rhythm to the hip movement/less segmented feeling.
    • A bit back at it tonight. I just wanted to add in the feel of a softer left arm through out the backswing. This helps me hinge the club. I make sure I am not bending it a ton, but not straightening it. It helps feel like I can keep the club in front of me more and lift the club up sooner.
