Yes. I once planned a trip with six golfers.

Have three two-man teams. One player from each team plays in each group so the teams are split. The game is a 3 player (or in this case 3 team) match play format called 6's.

I would suggest best net ball of each team. There are six points awarded per hole. This is because six points can be divided perfectly between three teams.

If all three teams tie the hole, they each receive 2 points.

If one team wins the hole, and the other two teams tie for 2nd, the winning team receives 4 points, the others receive 1 point.

If two teams tie to win the hole, they each receive 3 points, while the last place team receives 0 points.

If all three finish separately, the winning teams receives 4 points, 2nd place 2 points, and last place 0 points.

Play it nassau style for front, back, and total. Third place team pays the first place team your selected dollar amount, while the second place team breaks even. Pick a dollar amount that can be divided well so that if two teams finish tied for first or last, their winnings/losings get split in half. Or use hole handicap as a tie-breaker.

If you keep the same teams for all three rounds I'd also have a 54-hole and a 27-hole bet.

I'd also play greenies and birdie skins, double skins for eagle.

Another suggestion would be to do a three man scramble match play event for the second 18 on the 36 hole day, just in case some guys get fatigued playing that much. Text your scores back-and-forth so each team can track the match as it's played.

I play in two groups each week and we play a variety of games based on a point system:  1pt for bogie, 2 for par, 3 for birdie, 4 for eagle and zip for double bogies.  Just add the points, rather than stroke totals.

1.  Traditional scramble/best ball

2. "Shamble".  Everyone hits a drive, then everyone plays own ball from location of the best drive to finish the hole.

3.  Total Team points:  using the above point system, add up total team points for 18 holes.

3.  Not sure what to call this but everyone plays own ball for 18 holes:  Add up scores for best NINE  individual holes using the above point formula   We use this format for both individual and team scores (we play 3-man teams, normally).  Example:  one par, one birdie, one bogie equals 6 pts on that hole for the team.   Keeps everyone in the game all the way through and allows for bad holes.  You simply choose the best team point totals for nine of the holes.

4.  Using same scoring format, we also play best individual 9 holes (front or back nine) in the team format.  So, for example, you have 12 points for the front 9 and 16 for the back 9, you would use the 16 point total.  Simply add up the points for the best 9 (front or back) for each person on the team and that's the team total.  Gives a chance for a comeback if your first 9 is crappy and may make you aggressive and try to do better on the back if you have a good front.  It's a fun format.  Differs from #3 in that you chose either the best front or back 9.  In #3, you chose the best 9  individual holes from the total 18.

5.  Red/White/Blue:  Can be fun.  Start at the regular (usually the white) tees.  If you get a par or bogie, you stay on those tees.  If you get a double, you move up a set; if you birdie you move back a set. So. for example..if you birdie the first hole, you move back a set of tees (on our course, that's the blues).  If, then on the second hole, you bogie or par, you stay put; but if you double bogie, you move back to the whites.  If you are having a bad day and double bogie the third hole, you move up as set of tees (red on our course).  Again, we use the point system, rather than strokes.  But you may find yourself hitting from tees and distances which aren't familiar !!

Besides bragging rights, we play for beer or a pot (everyone throws in a few bucks and winner take all).  Enjoy ur trip !!

    • For someone with a very consistent swing speed and ball strike, upgrades may improve performance. For everyday golfers, probably not. I'm a rather odd player. I usually get best performance from basic pro or tour heads, but with lighter stock shaft from the model's standard driver set up. (Yes, current EXS is an exception.) When I get a full driver fitting, I usually try a couple of modest upgrade  (not super magic) shafts. Most of the time upgrade gives a couple of extra yards, or 10 yards less. Remember this about stock shafts: They are matched to a particular driver model to fit the type of player likely to adopt that model. Also, most OEMs offer a variety of stock shafts in their drivers. Test for which one works best. And, the final decider...
    • Uh, seeing you're having trouble with hit-and-miss performance from inherited clubs... Get Fitted! IF the 910H pair don't work, swap them out. Also, only two degrees separation in loft is not much. You might consider a 4W (much more reliable than a 3W) plus hybrid. This would give more distance separation than two Hs. For hybrid, get one you can hit... Maybe a more benevolent 4H. Quite often I try to brand match my bridge clubs (FWs and Hs), and my irons and wedges... but not always. Whatever works!
    • Like others have said, get fitted. Since 2011, I have played some combination of 4W + 7W. I had a Cobra 3H and 4H a couple of years back, and would swap out the 7W for a 3H in cold months (keep out of cold wind, and rough thinner for wayward drives.) The 7W matched up with yardage often with 3H; the current 4H goes almost as long as 7W, but has a lower trajectory. 4H also bumped out 4i in last bag redo; I learned to hit stinger with 4H so that's my driving iron on tight holes with shallow landing area. Again, a side-by-side test will tell you which way to go. If 5W or 3H is meh, keep the 7W. Also, are you looking to replace the 7W with a 5W or 3H, or add a second bridge club (5W or 3H) to your bag?
    • Makes sense and aligns with other literature. Static stretching, especially for longer durations, can impede performance in strength and power activities. I would not want to do like hamstring, quad, and calf stretches then go immediately sprint. To me that sounds like a terrible Idea. I would rather start off walking, then jogging, then running, then ramp up to sprinting.  To me, static stretching isn't even a warmup activity. I like the term warmup; you want to get some exertion going before the activity.      a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; }
    • Going to Florida for the usual February golf trip, and with our current weather, that date won't get here soon enough. Heading to Augusta GA for the Tuesday Master's practice round, will definitely get some golf in while I'm in the area for a few days. Hope to be able to catch up with @coachjimsc if he's around. Then it's back to Scotland first of July.  Playing 7 new courses, can't wait for that.  Then somewhere after that is the Rhode Island CC Member-Guest and then my normal October golf trip to Myrtle Beach.
