I bought a Mizuno JPX 825 Pro 6 iron to get some experience doing club maintenance and repair (re-gripping, shaft change, etc) and not to mention maybe dabble in some low-key testing of something a bit newer.  I haven't hit it with real golf balls yet, but I prefer the all chrome look so I decided to remove the black paint in the cavity.  Took some acetone, a wire brush, and a thumbtack to it and am fairly pleased with the results.  Didn't get 100% of the paint off, but it would just need a little more time and maybe a small wire brush drill bit for the cavity undercut.

It's fun taking a used club and making it over for you, isn't it? Can get a bit expensive though for an entire iron set. Best, -Marv

Got to say the all metal finish looks better then the original. Mizuno take note!

Well it was cheap to do but a whole set would take a lot of hours more than anything. A cleaner look on a GI iron is worth it though considering I have champagne club taste and a beer golf swing.

Maybe someone did what I did a few years back and sent it to them! From the 850 on the cavity has been all chrome.
