Ya but I checked out your first swings compared to your current...and your swing isπŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’°. Your handicap has to be low now

Today’s session as instructed by @iacas. Have a pretend round...did not go well. I think I got a vid of every type of issue I’ve been having. I’m saving these to go back to when they pop up again.

THE FAT SHOT. This is currently most occuring problem.

THE SIDE BEND. This seems to happen when I try too hard to stay deep in transition. I feel like I have to swing up on the ball.

NORMAL SHOT

FACE ON. Might be the worst shot I’ve ever hit lol, went like 50 yards and way right.

Oh well, will read through my lessons and do my drills. Just gotta keep goin

A) See? Not as much lag or super-low shots or anything.

B) The last high right shot was because you set the ball up on top of the grass and then went way under it. Probably caught it high in the hosel.

C) You're getting closer to the ball throughout the whole swing. I'd like to see you focus on:

  • Better setup. Taller through the knees, arms hanging a bit more, club not quite so far from your zipper. Hitchhiker thumb.
  • Stay taller and rotate forward and up throughout the downswing. Not downward toward the golf ball.

You're really not that far off.

Ok, thank you.Β That’s something I would have never figured out.

Β I get too far away when I get worried about not being deep enough. (Constant worry about going back to where I started)

I will focus on (correct) setup and downswing like you said, as well as not forgetting my last lesson.

Best session so far.

Goals:

1. Posture-arms hang, hitch hiker thumb

2. Keep depth in backswing and transition (im worried about maintaining depth with closerΒ posture)

3. Downswing-go β€œforward and up” (with body). Stop getting closer to the ball throughout downswing.

SWINGS

1. Proof of posture.

This was a longer video due to not trimming out myΒ β€œthumb test”.

2. Stayed taller in downswing

Stayed tall in the downswing. Need to stay deeper in transition to not hook.

3. Face on

I hit a better shot this time...lol

SUMMARY

1. Improved posture was a success. Some shanks, must not get closer during downswing. Must fix fast. Must not shank.

2. Depth in transition must improve-more on that below.

3. Staying tall(Er) in the downswing allowed my contact to improve instantly. I’m still not doing it well enough-but a good start.

CONCLUSION:Β

I feel as if my hands/wrists are bowing very well in the downswing. My misses are hooks.

Β I am encouraged by this because with my wrists bowing-I must swing in-to-out to not hook it. I am being forced to stay deep in transition and swing out. This is good for me right now.

With the weather starting to turn, my practice sessions will be more frequent. The next 3 weeks are massive before the season starts. Changes must be cemented now.

Toldja.Β :-)

But yes, much better posture, better head (non-)movement, etc.

Good session.

Notice how in the first video, it's not like you're not maintaining depth with the left arm on the downswing, even though you "feel" like you're pretty close to the ball.

Thanks! GoodΒ to know that’s acceptable. I don’t quite know where the limits or β€œguide-rails” are to stay between. I have a clue, but not super clear.

Posting new vids now. Feel free to just give a thumbs up if you like or agree with analysis. Jump in when you don’t like something. You’re busy and I don’t want to waste your time. Cuz I’m gonna be practicing a lot.

I’ll leave it up to you when you think I’m ready for the next lessons going forward also.

Today’s session. Tried to hit a few different clubs to get used to it. Hit a lot of hooks.

Major focus:

-continue last session (frwd and up)

-backhand the ball through impact.Β

Face on

It took a few attempts to get this video between the tripodΒ breaking and my phone running out of space. I think my wrists rolled a tad early.

9 Iron DTL

Not a lot to see here, more of same.

The recorded swing of a hook got corrupted. I wanted to share that. A lot of those.

Too many hooks today, fiddled with weaker grip, was afraid I was flipping with it.

Next time will try opening up clubface at addressΒ

Next time will try opening up clubface at addressΒ

  • Face a bit right at setup.
  • A bit less wrist arching (left wrist palmar flexion). Just a bit.
  • A bit less rolling the forearms, sure, just for consistency.

That's about it. When the ball hooks it's important to understand the reasons why - your path was fine, but your club face was likely too far left, leading to pull-draws.

Even if you do just one of the above bullet points, "face a bit right at setup" would be it. Just start the ball a tad further right. Do that with the face.

Only time for a short session today. Couldn’t take practice swings and endless drills, but focus was good. Went well.

Goals:

-control the draw

-Continue downswing body control (not getting closer to it)

-stay deep in transition

1.

2. Backswing went across the line. PostingΒ to keep tabs on this.

This was my last swing. Club got too far inside on takeaway. Will monitor and fix immediately.

Session went well. Hit many tight draws. I like the look of posture. Successful mini session

Major notes for next session:

1. Must go 1cm more than hitch-hiker thumb to stay deep. The smallest amount let’s me stay deep in transition and hit good shots.

2. Swing thought in downswingΒ β€œforward and up” stopped working. My head started going forward and causing badness. New thought is β€œstay tall” and β€œdon’t get closer to ball”

3. Do yourΒ drills next time

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Today’s goals

1. Don’t let backswing get inside then steep

2. Stay deep in transition

3. Continue downswing body work (don’t get closer to ball)

Very early in session. BetterΒ backswing. Not a great shot. I felt flippy early on.

Tipped the shaft here. I worked hard staying deep in transition after this.

My phone kind of died and it got dark after this. I hit better shots by staying taller through the downswing.

i worked very hard on not flipping/ pivoting fast through the ball. Pivot speed, not arm speed (without flipping). I have one more video but it’s very dark. I was able to use a filter and get it watchable.

Next session should be better.

Side note: tried to hit drivers and it was a total failure. Low duck hooks. Will capture video next time.

Too many hooks today. Had a hard time starting the hall far enough right during pivot drills especially.Β

Point the face a bit right. And make sure your grip isn't too strong.

Draws need to start right. Not straight.

Yesterday’s session. Didn’t have much time. Wanted to keep my feels/monitor where I’m at. Will have a proper session today.

Goals

1. Post up into front leg. More up, less left through impact.

2. Monitor things for potential problem areas.

3. Hit good drives

IRON SWING

Got a little steep in transition. Will work extra hard on this all week.

TWO DRIVER SWINGS

I hit the driver a tad better focusing on goal number 1. (Posting up-less around) still not good enough.

NOTES

1. Maybe my shoulder turn is getting a little flat in backswing? Might fiddle with it.

2. Work on more depth in transition. Will work slower in the next sessions.

3. Will continue driver work by hitting 4 or 5 7-irons in a row, then 1 or 2 drivers. This should help ingrain my swing fundamentals into the longer club. (That’s the plan anyways)

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Yesterday’s session 3-25-19

GOALS:

1. Take my time through a full session

2. Do a lot of drills

3. Continue work on driver (did not get to)

I had a pretty bad session, body was out of sync

FULL SWING

I hit a lot of pushes. Having a hard time getting the ball to start right and draw back.

TWO DRILL SWINGS

I focused mostly on the drill from my most recent lesson. β€œForward and up” I posted into my lead leg, trying to extend with speed through the hit.

Im having some trouble. I feel very slow through the hit. I might be jamming my arms with my body in the downswing, I dunno.

I definitely didn’t stay tall enough on the downswing, seem to be having a hard time combining all the pieces right now. I’m gonna take a day for slow motion work before hitting balls again.

Your drills aren't really being done properly:

That ball is going to pull or cut. Not gonna draw back.

Today’s session

Goal: fix path, hit draws

DTL

Face-on

I can’t move on or do anything else until I can stay deep in transition. So I must hit draws on every shot-maybe til July if not all year minimum. Driver is still a total mess.

ButΒ today was successful (I think). Had to getΒ back on track. It sucks wasting a day instead of being able to progress.
