Literally don't know what to go for? I got fitted at the weekend and tried both seemed to hit the G series a bit better, but I've compared prices and I get can the G400 for only £30 extra and I'ce watched loads of review videos on both but still can't decide. I'm a very heavy slicer and the SF Tec helped loads, if i'm making an investment I want to make sure its for the right driver, been playing for a year now and I shoot anywhere between 100-110. Any advice?

My son-in-law just was fitted for the G series and absolutely loves them.

BTW...Welcome to TST.   I'm guessing you're from the UK?   Where about?

I do like it but I was thinking £30 difference is worth it?

Both are very good clubs.   The clubs should last you for a long time so you could look at it as an investment over time.   In the end, only you can answer that based upon your budget and preference.

That's true, I don't mind paying a bit more because I know i'll get the use out of it, however I was thinking about going 2nd hand as I can get a SF Tec G series for £100

I would go for the one that is most forgiving, longest, and sounds the best. If they are equal there, then I would go with the newest technology.

Taylormade M4 10.5* (turned down to 8.5*)
Ping G410 LST 3 Wood
Ping G410 5 wood
Titleist F2 7 woods
Ping G graphite irons 5 - PW  Black Dot
Ping Gorged Glide Wedges - 50, 54, 58
Directed Force Reno 2.0 Putter
What an amazing game this is.

My suggestion would be to get the G400 max driver and eith have hot melt added into the heel ( if you know a club builder) or add lead tape to the heel.  Lead tape is my choice since you can add and remove what you want.

Why did I suggest this??

The Ping  sftec is not very draw biased.  If you miss the center of the club face too, you'll lose distance. This club is not a big slice fixer if that's what u want.

The G400 max gives you a bigger club head, (460 cc whereas the tec is 445) so there is a better chance of finding the middle of the face.  More forgiveness with the world class MOI numbers.  You will hit this club further because your off center hits will go further than with the tec.  Add in the lead tape on the heel and you can create as much draw bias as u want.

    • I appreciate that you have taken the time to come back and update. Based on what was previously discussed I feel like the points were; forged, feel good, price, and possibly players distance. If you like the "looks" of those Maxfli irons and if price is a major point, then going straight to the source, Maltby, might make sense. Specifically, the TS3 iron. I was looking into this myself and found some reviews: Fit2YouGolf, Lets Play Thru, and ELITE FIT GOLF. As per your update I found the Maxfli to be ~$1300 fitted the way I wanted. Where the TS3 with the same fitting and assembled by Golfworks was less than $750. I suppose the downside is to actually hit the iron you will need to get lucky and find someone in your golf circle who will let you hit theirs or order a 6 or 7 iron to test. However, the way I look at that is being equivalent to some fittings. If you like the results and buy, then the fitting is free, otherwise the price of the fitting is a sunk cost. If name brand is important, then I submit for your consideration - THE BEST OVERALL IRON of 2024...... FACT !! 😉 A bit tongue in cheek that but also, I feel some good points were discussed.
    • Day 150 1-10 focus on arching the wrist and getting the ball to go left. Recorded, hit foam balls.
    • Day 467 - 2026-01-10 Practiced at Pinehurst every day I was there, and before Junior Elite this morning I got fifteen minutes of backswing checks in the mirror in.
