In Streams, and most everywhere on the site, there are two ways to click through into topics.

Just about everywhere, clicking the star or circle next to the title takes you to the first unread comment in the topic:

Click those stars or circles anywhere, and you will get to the first unread comment.

For those of you who use a default "stream" - the one you get when you click "New Content" and which has the URL: https://thesandtrap.com/discover/unread/, I've changed the setting:

So now, clicking even the TITLE of the topic takes you to the first new comment. If you're using a different stream, you can change the setting for your stream here:

It's the one at the bottom.

Unfortunately, there's no way to change this setting site-wide, for example, on this page:

https://thesandtrap.com/forums/forum/6-golf-talk/

Clicking the title there takes you to page one of the topic (but again, the star or circle take you to the first unread comment). This makes sense because, while we can control streams, on a forum listing, not having a way to go to the OP from the listing would be awkward.

Key Points:

  • Clicking the star or circle always takes you to the first unread comment.
  • I've set the entire title to take you to the first unread comment in the default stream "New Content."
  • If you've set up your own streams, you can change the default behavior in the manner shown above.

Thanks for sharing this.

Honestly I had never even clicked on the activity tab or viewed the site in that streaming way before. I typically just look at the 5 most recent threads that appears at the bottom of each thread and click through the different forum categories that are of interest to me.

I highly recommend people make a stream like this their "home page" for visiting the site:

https://thesandtrap.com/discover/ or https://thesandtrap.com/discover/unread/ or create their own stream.

    • Day 27 (17 July 26) - Normally an 18 hole day, but due to commitments abbreviated the round to 9 holes (played the back nine at home course).  Had a solid session where even the worst miss (tee shot off 18) was fully playable.  Shot a solid 39 (6pars, 3bogies) - not dbls, no three putts - just boring golf.
    • Overall, well said. People have to be very careful in trying to describe very complex problem in simple terms. In this case, it is a clear fundamental misunderstanding of Newton's 1st and 3rd laws.  To clarify more on the misinterpretation of Newton's 1st law. The exact interpretation of Newton's 1st Law....  "Every body continues in its state of rest, or of uniform motion in a straight line, unless it is compelled to change that state by forces impressed upon it" yea, a body will stay motionless unless a force acts upon it. An object will stay on its path of motion unless a force acts upon it.  I get it, complex physics problems are difficult. There is a lot of simplification done in most physics class when it is taught. A classic problem uses a frictionless surface. Projectile motion excludes drag and wind direction. Collisions are usually elastic. The golf swing is not a simple physics problem.  Yea, I think they got caught up the data on the graphs and are not truly understanding cause and effect.  If the golfer isn't first pushing into the ground, then the ground isn't going to push back.  The internal forces of the body create the motion, not the external forces from the ground. The ground isn't like what Psy uses to start his concert. 🤣 You probably need to be connected to the ground and have those GRF to help the body produce the motion you want. Your body has to move in the right way to produce the GRF which helps you move the body in the way you want. Body motion precedes the GRF.
