Hey,folks. I currently have an Aeroburner 10.5º driver. Been using it for about 2 years.   Thinking of upgrading to a 2017 M2.  Haven't had a chance to demo one. How much difference (other than the adjustability) is there in these 2 clubs?  Is it worth the upgrade?  Any comments on forgiveness, distance, playability, etc. are appreciated.

thanks.

I think you will like the M2. It sounds a little different at impact, but ball flight will be higher and you’ll have less spin.

Go test one up against your own driver and find out.  Get fitted and find out the best numbers for you.  Asking broad general questions like this will not help you.  By and large, clubs don't change much per the RnA and USGA rules.  It's mostly marketing.  There's probably not been much change from your driver to that one, but go and test.  I own a gc2, so I guess it's easier for me, but most shops will have a launch monitor for you to compare numbers with.  Just make sure it's a good monitor and no cranking up stats.  Also be aware of what you the person swinging the club brings to the table.  Don't be fooled by gimmicks and marketing.  How you swing and connect with the ball is the biggest part of it.

Long story short, go figure it out.

I did a complete bag fitting at Club Champion not long ago, and I have the TM Aeroburner myself. I am a 4.2 handicap with a driver swing speed of 100-105. They tried to fit me in a new driver/shaft combo but my numbers were consistent to the point they didn't feel they could sell me anything that would be a big improvement. I was really excited to hit some of the new drivers, but it goes to show that if you have the right shaft in your current club you may be hard pressed to see a substantial enough gain to warrant spending the cash on the latest and greatest.

On the flip side, my dad did a fitting with Club Champion as well and picked up 17 yards (avg) distance by upgrading. We have played since he got his new sticks and the gains have absolutely translated on the course. He flew the ball over many pins and was keeping up with me off the tee, something he hasn't done in a few years.

Moral of the story is Trackman doesn't lie, so take your current stick and compare it to whatever you have your eye on so you can make an informed decision.

Good luck!

    • I’d go with the Titleist if you liked the look of the blades but were suffering with distance. They should be a little more forgiving than a full blade and still retain some workability. Also remember to consider the shafts each have as this will be a big contributor to how they feel. Clemsonfan is right though… get fit or spend a bit of time on a launch monitor 🤙
    • Day 28: 2026.01.30 Managed to make time for a few swings out back today. Need a proper bit of range time this weekend.
    • Day 30, 1/30.  Six minutes this morning hitting a few more range balls, indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Did this before leaving the house.

    • Hi All my New Year’s resolution was to start playing golf again. I’ve caught the bug and am really enjoying hitting balls at a couple of my local ranges.looking forward to getting back out on courses in the spring. Based in the UK and 38 years old, I’ve been playing since I was a kid. Best handicap I’ve held is 2 in my mid 20s. Over the past 10 years I’ve played once or twice a year, sometimes with friends or for work. Could shoot 4-5 over, but just as easily shoot 15-20 over. I’ve moved to South Wales and am very lucky to be near some world class links courses, which gives me even more motivation to get playing again! I will start looking for a local coach in my area when I have more time to invest, but I recalled scouring this forum a few years ago and finding some good tips and advice so wanted to give it a try to see if there were any glaring issues I could fix in the meantime!  A few swings below… one from 1st week Jan and one from today. I have fixed my P1 takeaway to my liking and am now working on what I see as pretty severe early extension & hip thrust. Also terrible hip rotation. I’d like confirmation that this is indeed a problem and and suggestions on a few good drills. Thanks for reading 🙂 I've been Playing Golf for: 30+ years My current handicap index or average score is: 10ish over My typical ball flight is: mid The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push right with irons, hooks and push with driver!  Videos:
