And now, I am the owner of a beautifull set Mizuno 900. How come?

Well, 2 years ago, I went to a clubfitter. I wanter a lower ball flight and somewhat a more forgiving clubhead without sacrificing a beautifull look from above. I hate shovels. After a day of testing in front of a TM, with different clubheads, different shafts, the fitter build a set of Srixon Z 585. With the PXI shaft in it. Apparently I was having a blast that day at the fitter, because we never became friends, the club and I.

Since winter 2018, I am following lessons from a Scotsman. Great guy, I like what he is saying. After 5 lessons, I noticed that he was looking at my clubs. He told me that I have to work those baby's. He was nog fond of them. He pinched a nerve, because I either hit them great or not. No in between. So bakc to the fitter again. I explained the situation. Hit balls with the Srixon, and all the numbers told the story. Ht it flush and ballspeed was ok, smashfactor top, dynamic loft super etc. But when I hit it a bit less flush, inconsistentie was there. So, we started hitting with the Srixon head with different shafts (Nippon 950, Project X and LZ). All the numbers went better even with bad shots. My shot cone went narrower, more control, more consistant distance, the picture became more clear. It was the shaft creating the problem. The best result came with the LZ 6.0/120 shaft. Ik wanted to refit them with that shaft, but that might be expansive.

There happen to be a set 4-pw Mizuno on sale, with my exact specs. So we went testing a bit more. Even put on some classic impact tape. On my 'old' Srixons, a lot of dispersion on the clubface. With the Mizuno, I could not believe my eyes. More or less on top. A very good ballflight (no ballooning), good numbers, swingspeed top. Even a bad struck ball hold its line. So I bought the set! Let's go crazy. Today I went to the range. I hit so many lovely struck balls. I feel like it's just aim and hit. Much more relaxed. everything I wanted to achieve with the Srixons and couldn't get, I now have. Very happy camper here.

Plenty of clubs feel like a Mizuno. Or better.

I'm glad you like the Mizuno Irons and had a great outing with them. Unfortunately I must be the bearer of bad news. Soon, very soon you will have an unfavourable ball striking experience with them. You've flirted with what the golf gods can perceive as an 'eureka moment.' I'm sure the Mizuno Irons feel awesome to you. Many other irons will give you the same and maybe even a better 'feel.' But that's really irrelevant. You're happy with them and that's all that matters. But please, for. your own sanity and protection, keep that feeling to yourself. Keep it secret. Keep it safe.😁

I think it is an excellent markting quote. I hit some balls with the new Honma club. I couldn't even tell that club wasn't forged. Another piece of humble pie. Of course there are more clubs with that butter feeling.

I wouldn't say I had a bad fitting the first time. We crunched all the numbers with the help of TM, we tested a couple of shafts with different heads. At the time, the choice was valid. But as soon as I got them, we did not click. I hit lots of buttery feeling balls, but also hit enough crap ones. And I will probably do so with the Mizuno's. But the combo of lessons, a lot of practise and the new clubs will give me hope of  having a great golf season. For me, some sort of mental issue is gone. I do not expect to hit perfect balls all the time, certainly not. But I feel so much more comfortable with the new club which is awesome.

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
    • Day 1: Spent some time hitting some balls. Working on my hips and a “soft” and straight trail arm.
