  1. Michael Breed has forgotten more about golf than I'll ever learn.
  2. I can practice as many different things as I want to when working on my swing especially focusing on the short game as it is king when it comes to scoring.
  3. I know you don't like double posting in this thread but I did want to add one more goal for this year. Now that my wife has finished school (MBA this time) again, my other goal is to get her back out on the course more and golfing with some of our golf couples friends.
  4. I use all three types of practice depending upon what I am wanting to accomplish. Mostly though, if I am working on an aspect of my swing, it's just me and the 6 iron.
  5. Get the handicap back under 5.
  6. I'll play again this year and wow everyone with my 51st percentile showing.
  7. As some one who has battled head movement and swaying for the longest time, you will probably feel very uncomfortable at first. I didn't feel like I was moving at all yet. My head was moving back and up diagonally over 6 to 8 inches in the back swing. I have to feel like my head is moving forward and down just so that it will only move up and back just a little bit. It is difficult to overcome.
  8. That is what I was thinking also. The good shot would have left him with an easy, rather than difficult second shot. Just like when one of my friends says, "You hit that one good" when I airmail a green. I always reply, "No, I hit it too far. A good shot would have been on the green."
  9. "Erik, Michael, or Dave, could you please explain to me how to accumulate the LFK (left finger knuckle for those uninitiated to the jargon ) at A7?"
  10. Well, he's received exactly 0 responses at golfdiscussions.com so they don't think about it much over there.
  11. I have attended an aim point class with Erik and Dave. Two other site members, jmao and derrick, also happened to be there. When I got back home I practiced some with it and while still even to now, not all that comfortable with busting out the actual chart, I do find straight and feel the slope with my feet. You wouldn't even realize I was doing it. It has made me a significantly better putter. My putts are almost always breaking towards the hole when they miss. In other words, they always are looking like they have a chance to go in.
  12. Just remembering that at scratch you will be shooting the course rating wherever you play is pretty daunting. It's not that easy either with natural ability or by practicing your balls off. The lowest I have ever been is a 4.7.
  13. It only takes 15 more seconds to hit the provisional provisional. :)
  14. Same for me. Simple little 52* wedge shot
  15. And this one from whatever tablet I have :P
  16. My being old and stuff is now moot. Just posted this from my i phone using the mobile app. :)
  17. Not all of us are computer geeks like you. Remember, according to jamo, I am old.
  18. I am also having trouble with my tablet.
  19. I certainly can attest to the fact that the evolvr instructors will not rush you on to the next thing if you are not ready for it. Your priority piece will bethe only thing they will talk about until it is no longer the priority piece. They can be quite stubborn. ;-)
  20. A lot of has to do with "how hard can it be to hit a ball with a stick?". Well, it ends up being a lot harder than you realize.
  21. The lowest I have ever been is a 4.7. I made tons of pars but few birdies. I might shoot 74 or 75 without a single birdie. Of course on the days I did make 4 or 5 birdies, I'd also toss in more bogeys or a few others. I think part of getting down to scratch is ultimately as much mental as it is mechanics. I couldn't tell you how many times I have lost a really good round on the last couple of holes due to the pressure of shooting a low number. I have only shot even par 3 times. However, I also couldn't tell you how many times I have been several under par on one side or the other in a single round. You know, 42 - 34 or 33 - 41. Also, remember, to be scratch it means that you will shoot close to a course's rating and not its par. So, if the course rating is 69, then that is what the scratch golfer should shoot on that course. Conversely, on a really hard course, "scratch" might be 74 or 75.
  22. I know of a round you played earlier this summer where an old guy took pity on you and didn't make you pay. :-P
  23. I use Kinvovea to do some side by side stuff that is pretty cool.
  24. Since for years I was playing decent golf with a crappy looking swing, I know that I have "educated hands" that let me get back to the ball. I have always struggled with people (and sometimes those people have included you guys... ) telling me that I need a more body centered swing or pivot controlled hands. I suck when thinking about or trying to hit the ball this way. I know that I can swing my hands to where they need to be and strike the ball solidly. In fact, I had just gone back and re-read the whole "deep hands explained" thread and let my only swing thought on the course this week be the "wall drill" that Dave talked about in that thread. I immediately started hitting a nice tight "push draw cone" and only lost a couple of drives way left and even those weren't like off the world to where I didn't still have a chance to reach the green. I have come to the conclusion that there is no need for me to fight that I like to have a hands controlled pivot and this drill that you have put up is actually something I used to work on "intuitively". Thanks for letting me feel like there is another option for achieving what you guys know I am capable of doing. I am an "arms" swinger so I just need to go with it rather than fight it. The fact that you are tossing a little PP1 in the drill is just gravy for me since that was a piece that Dave was adding to my swing when I was in Erie over the summer.
