I went to Aberdeen yesterday with the same guy that I got the Ping Anser putter from because he was looking for a new one. We went into Roberts Golf and as we were checking out the putters I noticed that they had a Ping Sydney. I checked out some others with the intention of checking it out before leaving. He picked it up and asked if I saw it. I said yeah, then he asked if I saw the price tag, I said no. When he lifted up the tag with $85 on it I got it from him and checked it out. He told me that the putter was leaving that shop that day because if I didn't buy it that he would. I bought it and told him that he could get the Craz-E from me for $30 since I finally got the putter I've wanted since the first time I saw it. We played 18 at Deercroft then another 18 at The Bluff golf course after leaving the golf shop. My putting with the Sydney was about the same with the exception one 40 footer that had about 4 foot of right to left break on it that surprised me when it dropped. His putting was a lot better with the Craz-E compared to the sledgehammer that he was using. I read a review on the Sydney the other day and saw that the only con was the metallic clink noise when you contact the ball. I don't see that as a con, I kind of like it. I also like the midsize grip on the putter.

I've been fighting the out to in swing path since I first heard about it. What you're saying makes sense, I wasn't thinking about the swing path when I thought about ball position. I'll read up on the ball flight laws when I get back from my round.

I have been playing for just over a year and it wasn't until about a month ago that the two knuckle deal finally sunk in. I have heard that you should see two knuckles when you set up and after checking a couple times I pretty much forgot about this part of the set up. I used to have a big slice issue with the driver. I tried rolling the wrists, going strong with the grip on my right hand and snapping the hips. I got the driver down to a strong fade and an occasional straight ball but I still wasn't too happy. I got fairly accurate with my irons by closing the face at setup - big time, meaning that the face would be facing about 40º left of the target line. I had it all wrong. I don't remember what made me think to try it but I tucked the pad of my right hand into the base of the palm on my right hand and forced two knuckles to show even though it felt all wrong (bad habits were burned in pretty good). Well it worked and that is what made me realize that the top hand leads the club and makes the face close. So now I have the proper grip with a bit less grip pressure with the right hand and two knuckles showing on the left hand. For the last 6 or 7 games my drives have been going straight or with a bit of a fade/draw depending on ball position so I'm happy. The game before last I didn't think about ball position and was hitting low draw/hooks but I fixed my ball position with the last round so it's all good again. I also started using the proper grip with my irons so now the irons lay naturally, facing the target line at setup and they're going straight without a really bad overcompensation for a bad grip. I hit the irons fat for about 6 out of 10 shots but I'll get it down eventually, I have a bit of trouble swinging from the inside but I'm working on it. Am I right in my way of thinking that if the ball is too far forward in my stance that it will produce a draw and too far back will produce a fade? My way of thinking on this is that too far forward gives the face more time to close and too far back doesn't give it enough time to close. I know that you're supposed to close your stance and aim a little right for a draw and open it while aiming a little left to produce a fade. I have noticed that if I play it off my toe instead of heel that it will draw and if I play it an inch or so to the right of straight out from the heel that it will fade.

My clubs don't move when I toss them in the bed because it has Herculiner in it and that stuff grips like sandpaper. Most of the time I just stand them up, leaning against the front of the passenger seat though. That's how I carry them in my car too because Camaros don't have much of a trunk. If you're worried about movement then set the bag against the tailgate and wrap a bungie around the bag and hook onto both rear tie down points.

I am a good example of what you're saying there. I'm not a skilled player (been playing less than a year) and I bought a barely used 14º Callaway FT-hybrid and I can't hit it any further than my 9 iron and that's when I do get it to fly. My Taylormade Burner Rescue 19º hybrid is another story though, I've been known to knock one over 200 yards with that thing and hit it good most of the time.

I have the Ergonomix 10-way bag from Walmart. It was $40, it's really light and the legs spread wide. It has a water bottle pocket, a smallish front pocket, medium side pocket, large side pocket and a little valuables pocket on the side.

I went to the range earlier since the sun came out for a while before dark. I like the club but I don't think it's any better than the Callaway going by how far I hit with it. One plus side is that it doesn't sound like slamming a porcelain mug on concrete when you contact the ball like the Callaway. It took me a few balls to start hitting either club decent because I was starting the wrist turn too late and slicing but when I remembered to turn my hands earlier in the swing I was back to hitting them fairly straight. Some day I'll have to go get fitted to make sure my clubs are right for me.

I have read where a lot of people that own a Titleist 983E will take that driver to the grave so I had to have one. I found one in mint condition with a Fujikura Speeder stiff flex shaft on it for $45 so I couldn't turn it down. So what do y'all think of this club? It's raining today so I can't hit the range with it yet. I normally play a Callaway Hyper X and hit a personal best drive of 275 yards with it but if I can gain a little more consistency with the Titleist and only knock the ball 230 yards on every drive then I'll be happy with it.

My personal best drive of 275 yards was with a Top Flite XL distance. Second best with the same ball was 270 yards. They're some of the cheapest but those buggers will go when you catch the sweet spot just right.

Ping CRAZ-E. I really like it. I can't putt worth a crap with blade putters. I had a Target Line putter but I broke the head off of it when I dropped it on the ground beside me so I could chip. A friend traded me a Ping Anser for my Callaway Diablo Big Bertha 3 wood that I can't hit very well (gave $45 for it). Then about a week later I jokingly suggested to a guy in the pro shop that I had a putter that I would trade him for the CRAZ-E he had and when he told me to show him what I had I was surprised that he was willing to trade. He looked at the Anser and told me that he would take $20 plus my putter for it so I didn't hesitate. The CRAZ-E was fourth on my list of most wanted putters. The list is 1. Ping Sydney 2. Ping Scottsdale Wolverine 3. Ping Scottsdale CRAZ-E TOO 4. Ping CRAZ-E

That's how I feel about it. I've been hanging around 100 lately (97-104) and If I played strictly by the rules then I would be around 110-115. Since I'm not playing in a tournament or for money then you can bet I'll take two off the tee, drop where the ball went into the water and break out the foot wedge when I'm behind a tree without taking a penalty. I'm still learning so every round is just practice for me. When I start seeing 80's (in other words getting a little more consistent) then I'll start following all the rules and see those 80's jump back into the 90's. That will be fine though because when I start seeing 80's then that will mean that I'm keeping my ball in play more often and it will still be fun while playing by the rules. Right now it wouldn't be so fun if I followed every single rule.

When you sweat a little and have any air hit your legs (walking will do it) then it feels like you have an air conditioner in your pants. Also it doesn't matter how much you move around, these things don't budge on your legs so no bunching up while you're moving about is a bonus.

I haven't even tried on any golf shoes for the same reason, I have wide flat feet. The golf shoes I've seen look too narrow where the arch is on a normal foot just like running shoes.

Used is the only way to go. That's why I love Play it Again Sports. Would you rather spend $110 on a new 56º wedge or $20 on one that looks like it hasn't seen more than one round? That seems like a no-brainer to me.

My iron set came with 4 and 5 irons and I took them out of my bag because I can't hit them very well. I use my 3h for 200ish yard second shots and that normally gets me near the green so I can chip or pitch onto it.

Gotcha. I'm still new to this so a lot of things on the forum still go over my head.

My 3 hybrid is 19º. I thought that was standard for a 3h. Is the loft different between all the manufacturers?

Choking down on the grip didn't do anything for my accuracy. Slowing down works for me but it only hits around 175ish when I do that. What did work was starting to close the club face around halfway through my down swing. I was doing that before but I think I was either trying to close the club face right before contact or I just wasn't aggressive enough with it. I didn't slice once yesterday when I played Carolina Lakes (just outside of Sanford, NC) and that has never happened before. I did hook it twice and had two popups but other than that I was hitting amazing (for me) drives. I hit one dead straight and it was 8-10 yards past the 100 yard from the green marker in the center of the fairway on a 361 yard hole. Shots like that are the ones that keep me playing.

I only used my driver about 4 times the last time I played and hit more fairways than ever because I was using my 3h off the tee. The sad part is that my 3h will hit the ball as far as my driver (220ish according to the range markers at the driving range) when I do hit it straight. Every now and then I'll catch that driver just right and knock it about 240ish but that isn't very common. Today I'm going to the range and I'm going to try out choking down on the grip on my driver by about an inch and a half and slowing down my swing to about 75% power. I was reading the other day that drivers normally come from the manufacturers with a shaft that is 1" to 2" too long so I'm going to see how choking down on the grip will work for me.

90. Great for me. I got a new putter just before the round and I didn't three putt once today. Three and four putting normally puts a hurting on my scores.

My putter search is over. The other day I traded a Callaway Diablo Big Bertha 3 wood that I can't hit for a Ping Anser that a friend didn't use. I played one game with it and realized that I still can't putt with a blade putter. Today I jokingly suggested to the guy in the pro shop that I would trade him a Ping Anser for the Ping Craz-E that he had on the rack. It surprised me when he said that he couldn't do a straight trade because I realized that he meant he would be willing to trade. So I got mine and showed it to him when he asked then he said that he would take $20 plus my putter. I'm happy because my putting improved 10X with this putter.

Golfers that complain about wanting total silence while they're hitting. As long as it isn't sharp noises like a whistle or someone yelling then I don't see why you can't just block it out.

I was thinking about it earlier, has anyone ever made a putter from scratch? I was thinking that I could grab a block of aluminum or steel and spend some quality time with the milling machine and see what I come up with.

When I bought them the guy told me that it was funny because they had just gotten those irons back the day before from a guy that had bought them a week ago. He said that the guy that bought them buys new clubs quite often. Now I can't blame my bad iron shots on crappy irons. The old ones really are crappy, the 7 iron has a nice dent right in the center just from hitting balls with it.
