IMHO I see them as over marketed techno clubs with super juiced lofts. With that being said I should point out that this opinion should have no sway on your decision to buy/play them or not. How do they feel to you? Do they inspire confidence? Do they calm you? Do they please your eye? Club selection and purchase is such a personal thing I'm not sure how much honestly helpful data you're going to get asking the question here. I would say this though, if you are in any way unsure then don't do it. That is a lot of money to spend on something you're not positive of. P.S. don't trust the monitors

nope I sure wouldn't. I will be stretched out on a dock in northern wisconsin this coming friday, hopefully consuming my first summer shandy. If it's not to my tastes then i'll cross it off the list and then break out a leinie red.

No harm no foul, I don't get bent out of shape over posts on the internet, it's just not worth my time. I'm new to the game and probably would have written the same thing except I was hoping someone had some fantastic reason that I wasn't aware of like "all hat sales go to charity" or something. I guess my observation is confirmed, they are in fact greedy SOBs.

On a side note, I went to this link, read the blog, and then went searching for this video that supposedly showed the "other" side of Justin.... What a crock of s**t, the title is "the softer side of Justin" or something to that effect, but its the same old garbage spewing from his mouth. Why is it so hard for a guy to just say "they played better than me"? I hope I never see or hear anything about this self proclaimed "legendary ball striker" for the rest of my life.

Another post in this thread just made me step back a minute and think, why don't golf companies include a hat or shirt when you buy a set of $800 irons or a $300 driver more often? Heck every time I've ordered from JEGS (performance car parts company for those that don't know), even if it's a $50 dollar order, I get a hat. I've probably got 10 of them laying around the garage right now and I've given away more than I could ever remember. For that matter every time I had to go to the Caterpillar dealer to help pick up equipment when I was doing an internship with USACE we got a free hat or license plate. I've gotten free shirts, hoodies, hats, and other merchandise from every single company I made a large purchase with (except chevy when I bought my truck, those rats!). It may be way off topic with what the OP was getting at but it is a good question, why aren't things like hats included when you make a large purchase from one of these companies? On topic, I wear a mesh Bridgestone cap because it was simply designed, on sale, and finally, I don't look good in a yellow JEGS hat.....which reminds me, I need to take the goodyears off my truck and get some Bridgestone T/A's before I have two different groups of people calling me a poser.

Not yet but I'll make sure I try it next week when I get to Hayward, you're the third person to ask if I've had it so I'm assuming its definitely worth a try. The worst part is that you can find their Berry and Honey Weiss (My least favorite Leinie's) in a few grocery stores here but they won't stock anything else. edit* changed honey wheat to honey weiss

Every once in awhile I play in this, of course it's a lot dirtier and encrusted with sweat and iraqi sand: Shouldn't be wearing the EGA unless you were or are a Marine, but you can get the older styles all day long online for like 10 bucks.

Does anyone know of a database where you can look up bios on different teaching pro's? I'm going on vacation in a week but I've recently developed a serious issue with my irons that I would like to resolve before I play during this vacation. I'll probably spring for a lesson at the course I will be playing most ( Big Fish golf club, hayward WI) but I wanted to find a review or something on the teacher before I went and blindly shelled out an extra 50$.

Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?
Swampy79 replied to JYB's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
A pair of Ecco Causal Cool II shoes so that my feet won't hurt anymore, they fit like a glove Also, did not buy, but fell in love with the Mizuno MP-63 irons, I will not be able to afford to secure this love affair until next spring, but it will be worth it. -
If you're going to track progress using a weight scale make sure you weigh and record at the same time everyday. You will fluctuate throughout the day and it can be very confusing and frustrating. Personally I stay away from scales all together and use the best tool ever invented, the mirror. Make sure you look in the mirror (full length) after taking a shower or something, before you get dressed, and be constructively critical. Between a mirror and taking body fat measurements it'll be alot easier to keep track of your progress (at least that's what works best for me). On another note, if you ask me BMI is a crock, I wouldn't give it the time of day. In high school I was 6'-2" 240 pounds and 13% body fat. In the four years I was in the Marine Corp I never weighed less than 230 and thus had to be taped for body fat despite never running less than a 265 PFT (physical fitness test out of 300). Imagine my gunny's constant disappointment when they taped me and I always came back with 8-11% body fat, thus not being able to be labeled a fat-body and have to do extra PT with him. Moral of the story is this, the BMI maybe applies to 25% of the human race, if I weighed what the BMI thought I should be at I would probably look like I was about to die. I think it is antiquated and based off of a failed formula. Use a mirror and shoot for the healthy body fat percentage don't get caught up on your weight. I highly recommend Cross-fit (or an equivalent exercise regime) if you ever get the chance to use it because it emphasizes NOT focusing on single muscle groups and instead gives you a greater whole body general fitness.

I don't really sweat in cotton or "breathable" sport shirts.....I perspire like a broken water main no matter what. I have found that the breathable sport fabrics feel more comfortable and less cumbersome to wear even when completely soaked, they don't feel like an extra 40 pounds of weight hanging from my shoulders for the last 12 holes. Thats the difference maker for me. I sympathize with your beastly sweat problems, stay hydrated!!

Currently having a love affair with Wisconsin beers New Glarus Fat Squirrel, Leinenkugel red lager or creamy dark for dinners/ single beer for the evening. Leinenkugel original for everything else: working in the garage, cutting grass, fishing, etc... Since I live in Mississippi right now and can't get any of this local, once I run out of my mass stock of original I usually supplement with coors light until I can make another summer vacation run back up to WI.

Eh, I don't think this really has anything to do with the amount of money he can still pull in. I'd say that in in a public poll you might get that reaction, but in an anonymous poll it'd be more like 15% hate him and the rest are licking their chops. It's PC to say he's a scumbag for what he did, and its a moral decency point if you say it for others to hear, but how is he any different than any other d-bag (man or women) that cheats on their spouse? Most of the time those same d-bags end up dating, and getting remarried, proof that in the long run no one is seriously concerned by the behavior one way or the other.

Do you ever delete posts before you finish writing them?
Swampy79 replied to jshots's topic in The Grill Room
Write it in Word or notepad, then save+copy and paste, your hair will thank you and everyone in a six block radius will relax due to the significantly decreased amount of random cursing they have gotten used to. It took me way to long to figure out that this was the best way to maintain my sanity. -
A- freaking -men, everything about my decibel is perfect (especially the water bottle pocket) except the legs deploy about as well as some guy getting up from the bar for the first time after a 12 hour drinking binge...

Since I'm in graduate school I play every other morning during the week and save the weekend for my wife and kids. I play by myself 9 times out of 10 although occasionally one of my friends will find a way to drag themselves out of bed and meet me at the tee box by 07:30 (all of the current and former military members on here should understand why I always seem to wake up around 5:30 no matter what). I have never had a problem getting on, I just show up at 07:00 and play 9 starting on the 10th and never see a soul except for the groundskeepers my entire round, it is amazingly peaceful, plus being 2 hours ahead of everyone affords me all the bunker practice I want (and need). I HATE being paired with strangers, but luckily every where I've been so far I've been able to just play alone, even on vacations. I'm just lucky I guess.

Personally my problems with it were: A- Charl called the official over, asked him for relief, and then in what seemed like a 20 minute long circle-jerk fluff off, I watched an official go from a position of disagreement to folding like a lawn chair and almost leading Charl in his effort to get a lame duck relief. Phrases like " I don't want you to say I think.... just say it will affect my swing blah blah blah " It was like watching a crooked cop lead a witness in a phony confession. and B- For the first time in my life it something in a golf tournament took so long and was so absurd that before I even knew what was happening I caught myself saying "Just hit the damn ball" to the TV...... and I have never, ever, talked to the TV while watching golf (hockey, football, and soccer are a different story).

its gonna take me some range time to get it completely smoothed out but my newest addition (because I was stupid and didn't get the ping i-10 2 iron when i bought the rest of the set and now can't find one ) is an Adams idea pro black 18 degree hybrid, and so far the good shots are niiiiiiiiiiice. its got a very nice flight path sometimes low sometimes medium depending on how I connect, but I haven't gotten it to balloon yet.

Former Marine, current family man and student in grad school for Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical & Hydraulics. I split my time between research, family, golf, and looking for jobs while contemplating dropping it all for a commission as an officer back in the corp.

I play Bridgestone B330s because A: it feels the best when putting FOR ME B: it chips and pitchs the best FOR ME C: Iron and woods play was comparable to everything else I tried and finally, I can get them for 1~2 dollars per ball from places like www.lostgolfball.com I don't mind playing once used, small marks/scuffed balls but I do mind paying 40$ dollars for 12....thats just crazy.

I'm currently using the Ogio Decibel, it is a decent bag for the money. The leg system leaves a little bit to be desired, its sort of flimsy and doesn't inspire me with ideas of flawless performance for the next 6 years or so. Other than that it is a great bag, light as a feather. My Ogio cart bag has held up to all the abuse and more so I'm hoping that even if the legs go on the decibel the fabric will stay together and i'll just lay it down instead of standing it. On another note, I usually just walk 9, but when I do walk 18 I used to find that about two holes after my feet started hurting was when my back began to ache a little. The culprit? my shoes, changed them out as quick as I could save up the money, got a new pair that fit perfect for me and now magically no more back problems. This is just a suggestion, but your feet and legs can have alot more to do with back pain than you might think. If that's not the case for you then by all means, start doing back strengthing exercises and carry a lighter bag until your muscles catch up. If it does play a role though, still do your strength exercises, but by all means, get a pair of shoes that don't hurt your game as fast as you possibly can.
