  1. I don't know what I would do without my 56* sand wedge. It is by far my favorite club in the bag. I use it on the green side rough all the way to 110 yards. My favorite distance is 60 yards. A local pro taught me to have a slight open stance with the ball off my front toe. Hands even with the club head. I never break my wrist throughout the shot. In the last 3 weeks, I have chipped in twice from within 20 yards, chipped in once from 60 yards, hit the pin twice from 60 yards. I really like the shot.
  2. What about the Taylor Made R7 TP's? I thought I read somewhere that those have strong lofts as well.
  3. I just replaced my clubs for the first time in 10 years. Why is that so hard to believe.
  4. 11 courses. 4 stand out from the rest Southern Highlands, NV-first time I have ever played there. TheDunesClub, IN-I felt lucky to break 100 there RichHarvestLinks, IL-Another lucky round under 100. (56/40) Rated in "top 100" in golf digest PrairieLanding, IL-Was onced rated as "top 100 courses you can play" Looking forward to a trip with the guy's to Treetops in Michigan.
  5. I have been taking lessons this year and I think they are starting to pay off. I shot an 81 last night at a course I have never played before. 17 and 18 were played in the dark, I finished at 9:10, and I boggied both of them. I really believe I could have broken 80 for the first time if I would have been able to see better. I hope I can keep this up.
  6. For someone who doesn't know much about the spin milled, ie. me, can you tell me why someone wouln'd want a 52* spinmilled?
  7. I looked at the web site and answered my own question. Looks like some added distance...how much distance depends on the club you are using. I find it unusual that a faster ball speed, with a driver, would not result in the same added distance when complared to a slower ball speed. The faster the ball speed, the less added distance. Does anyone know why this is? (If there is already a thread on this, I oppologize for the repeat)
  8. Does anyone know what will be different with the new NXT tours?
  9. I have been taking lessons and have been working on this same thing with the same results. Even though I have a shorter back swing, I am getting great distance with better accuracy. I saw a show over the weekend on CBS called "The Science of Golf". They did a good job explaining the "X" factor which applies to what we are talking about here. If you haven't herd of it before, golfonline has a good article about it. http://www.golfonline.com/golfonline...148865,00.html
  10. I watched a little of it both Saturday and Sunday. Cool concept. Did you understand how Phil Ivey won on the extra hole? I understand that if you have enough money after the 18th to cover the "ante" than you go into extra holes. Did the person he beat have just enough money for the ante and then lost the first playoff hole? I thought that Phil actually had less money than his opponent. (I must be mistaken about that though)

  12. I wish others would mind their own business when it comes to what tees you play from. As long as you are keeping up with the group ahead of you, the group behind you has no business saying where you can or cannot play from.
  13. I know a guy who is still learning the game, this maybe his 3 rd year playing. He doesn't really grasp the consept of speed or lining up a putt. Eventhough he doesn't take to the time to set up for a putt, he bought a $300 Scotty Cameron. It is truly funny.
  14. I tend to put a lot of preasure on myself as well. I am reading Extraordinary Golf: The Art of the Possible. In the book, they talk about the things we think about, on the course, and how we, as golfers, put preasure on ourselves with those thoughts. Fred and Pete Shoemaker write that instead of thinking about things like score or making a team or looking good in front of others, the shot thought should be "If I were to hit this shot how I wanted, how would that be?" (I am abbreviating of course) Once you figure that out, and create a picture in your head of ball flight, height and distance, and end location, now you are ready to swing. Once that shot is over, forget about it, walk to your ball and start over, creating mental picture of the next shot you are going to take. When I went out on the course with this thought, it helped me to block out other thoughts that usually put preasure on my game. Has anyone else read this book?
  15. I voted NXT tour but I am looking forward to trying the Maxfli Fire. I have heard good things about it. Has anyone else tried it?
  16. Great pics! Thanks for sharing.
  17. I think it all comes down to time of play. My weekly foursome's handicap's are made up of 2 7's and 2 12's, I am one of the 12's, and we like to play from the tips. Our longest round this year was 4 hours and 20 mins and we waited for the group ahead of us. Who cares where you tee off from if you keeping up with the group ahead of you? We once had a group come up and say something to us as we were on the 15th tee, waiting for the group ahead of us, just because we were playing from the tips. WHO CARES! We were not holding anyone up. At one point, earlier in the round, we were 1 1/2 holes ahead of them.
  18. Thanks for the website. I didn't know there was a webcast.
  19. I've never hit the sumo so I can't compare. I'd need ear plugs if I ever tried the Nike.
  20. Good for you but that driver hurt my ears when I hit it. No other club has made my ear ring like that.
  21. I tried this club at the range and after three shots, my left ear was ringing from how loud the club was at impact.
  22. When I bought a hybrid, I only tried two of them, the cobra baffler and the Callaway. I choose the Callaway X, 20 degree. I love the feel and the sound of it. It has been a very reliable club for me. I havn't hit the hi bore but after talking to several people, it seems like you either love it or hate it. Has anyone swung or have any feedback on the Bobby Jones hybrid?
  23. I have a handicap of 12 with aspirations of a single digit handicap by the end of the year. I just bought the X-20 tours but before I did, I hit evey club I could get my hands on. While I hit the 775CB's well, they just didn't feel right. My choice came down to between the X-20's and the r7 TP's. Both were very nice. Since you were a single digit handicaper, you may want to swing the Mizuno's MP-60's. Very nice sticks.
